And there was me thinking it was going to be something original. Ah well, maybe someday.
why summat original.the old ones are the best are they not??
Why something original? Well, let me think. Maybe to stand out from the rest? Not suffer the embarressment of ripping off other clubs songs? To show that our supporters are quite intelligent and inventive?
Come to think of it, we’ve no chance. See 1st post.

ellington was a wigan player when we went to wba on that tuesday night when hughes got the abuse ,and that was in the championship,
when ellington got that stick it was a saturday afternoon, greening put them one up and ellingtons replacement david connolly equalised, then bullard scored the late winner, that was the defining moment of that first season,we went on the run that kept us in the division from there and west brom never recovered despite it being only the third or fourth game of the season,it was also the begining of the end of ellington at west brom.

I thought supporters were supposed to sing songs about their own team, not merely goad the opposition.

they are but it certainly added spice to that night.
IMO supporters at a game are there to help their team in whatever way they can whether that’s through encouraging their own team through the atmosphere they generate or singleling out players of the opposition & putting them off their game
Sometimes it works (Ellington at West Brom) & sometimes it doesn’t (Altrincham’s keeper in the 94 cup tie) but I’ve no problem with any Latics fans dishing out any stick to Lee Hughes this weekend
IMO after what he did he shouldn’t expect any less
