Having just watched your SS News interview, I can see the FA Cup means sod all to you, what about our place in the Premier league, which many before worked hard to achieve and preserve?
The materialistic passing play you promote has a specific time and place and currently lacks production by way of Results or goals! I believe the time isn’t the county ground when in an arm wrestle of a cup tie or on a blustery windy night at home against Sunderland and on such occasions and many more we need a plan B. The number of occasions an incomplete pass in the lower 3rd of the field has been intercepted thus presenting the opportunity on goal for our opposition; this has been the catalyst for too many goals against and over the course of the season and will ultimately resulting in the sacrifice of the Clubs position in the Premier League.
Plan B should include either 2 upfront or one directly behind, the front man, is it a coincidence we don’t have strikers returning more than 10 goals consistently under the man’s direction. How many occasions has the ball flashed across goal over the season, or been won in the air thus presenting an opportunity on goal for the nonexistent goal scorer.
How many occasions over the season have we bossed the first 10 minutes of a game only to get hammered? (Too many) Teams play against Wigan let them get in their stride for 10 minutes and then press and scare the bloody living day lights out of our players, thus producing the fore mentioned opportunities.
I believe the club pay for example (I could choose many) Franco Di Santo a decent salary, a decent performance by way of return would occasionally be appreciated!
I don’t know if its stubbornness, now following the interview it’s coming across as arrogance, but unless a Plan B is evident in the coming weeks, the Premier League position of Wigan Athletic football club will be lost as a consequence of the Managers reluctance to add a little by way of tactical diversity. I do believe there are three clubs who we could succeed over in retaining our place in the highest tier of English football.
Finally I ask what was the point of appealing the decision to send off Connor Salmon following Dowds wrong decision on boxing day, if for the next three games the lad is ultimately facing similar punishment by being placed on the bench, I believe the lad was just finding his feet and hitting a run of form, however lacking goals again i reiterate i believe the lack of goals to be generated by the negative possession retention tactics directed by Bob and the lack of a shadow in such situations?
Bottom line is his time should be up. 9 changes where the majority were players signed by Martinez to ‘challenge’ for places in the starting 11. I’m worn out and tired from his philosophy. Roberto, thanks for 1995 onwards, your letter to the site about the love you have for the club and for 2 years of survival. Thanks for reducing the debt burden along with Whelan you’ve consilidated the survival of the club at least but it’s time to go.
Such a pedantic view. Is that where you are also. Everyone other than you must go to harry’s bar. Is it an internet cafe now. Wow they have been doing well.
i made a promise i will not go to a game while bob remains as manager
why should i go and protest at the ground ,whelan would take little notice anyway
plus too many we love bobby groupies there
ill vote with my feet thank you
Do you honestly think Whelan and his gestapo of stewards would allow anyone to question his club or his manager in his ground.
The man is a total control freak and whatever he says goes, and that is why we are in this shyte now.
He decided he wasn’t continuing to invest money in us and went for the cheap option with the manager and coaches.
He got rid of all the decent players over the years who were on big wages, and replaced them with lesser players on less wages.
We may now be debt free, but we are also talent free, ambition free and ultimately Premier League free.
Thanks for the good times Mr Whelan, we have had more than most for a club of our stature, but to throw it all away now is a crying shame, please sort it by re investing or selling to someone who has the bottle and money to continue this amazing story of ours. Its not too late yet.
Fans have walked away, because the reason we go to football matches is to see goals and to be entertained, The lack of goals and the side to side passing along the back four is the problem with the club, and who as installed this and wont change his way because he is right and nobody else is, Answer martinez, even if he had the best coaching staff in the world he wouldnt take there point of view. MARTINEZ OUT he should have gone last season.
