      So?
It would be embarrassing going to Wembley with only 8,000 wouldn’t it, and who knows some may stay. They did from 2013.
As long as no regular loses out I have no problem with JCLs.

As a non league club and in early football league days we could attract some magnificent crowds for cup ties. These crowds gave us bragging rights in non league circles and indeed the great cup crowds where a selling point for the club in their efforts to gain football league status. JCLs most of them and all welcome most of the time.
Not very often we regulars miss out on tickets for home ‘big matches’ through JCLs.

Too right, home to stumblebum Peterborough Utd, then a mid table. Div4 team in the FA Cup 2nd round Dec 1970 ; 17,000 on ! Astonishing gate for a non league club ……
1974 we were drawn at home to Mansfield who were league leaders in Div 4 at the time and I remember being a bit disappointed that we ‘only’ got 15,000 on

It’s been an incredible achievement getting this far when you consider the quality of our opponents we have beaten along the way, Win next Saturday and it surely has to be the greatest ever cup run by a third tier club to reach the semis.

Next week is down to the club and the local media to sell this game, to fire up peoples imagination we are after all just one game away from Wembley.

And if we win next week you know what will happen. Spurs in the semis at their home ground.

“Ice Cool Jim Sinks The Posh”
Great FA Cup run in 1970/71. You would have been lynched under the Phoenix Stand for suggesting the Man City game was a distraction and despite a great cup run and many more smaller cup competitions with a squad half the side of today we went on to Win the league comfortably.
Got to say Paul Cooks attitude about the league and cup and so called fixture congestion is spot on and he rightly names City and the games they have and how they treat them all as important. Well done P.C.
Maybe we could have a look at Gordan Milne’s attitude as well in 1970/71. Yes I do know things were different in those days.

We will have ‘Iron Man’ Morsy and The ‘Wizard’ Powell in midfield so Spurs would be more ‘Paranoid’ about facing us on the ‘Sabbath’ Snowblind.

Yeah you have a point there Donny, as long as we have a ‘never say die’ attitude we’ll be OK.

            #167226

If we get past Southampton put your mortgages on us getting the scum in the semi,s they always get the favourable draw (warm balls methinks) and will have to face the despicable Mourinho . C,Mon you tics

IF we get to the SF then whoever we play will (a) be a big club, but (b) not be bigger than Man City at the moment.
However, to get there would be an unbelievable achievement whatever, and to lose at this stage would be no disgrace.

Watching MoTD and Southampton looked really low on confidence, just hope they don’t sack their manager before we play them.
As indifferent as we are at the moment, we stand a chance of beating these men.

One club losing ground on their promotion rivals and facing a huge fixture pile-up versus another club who have a horrendous run-in to avoid relegation from the £100million+ greed league. The winner has another fixture added to their diary to cram in goodness knows when and gets to face either Spurs, Chelsea or Man Utd in their home city ;-).

I can see a lot of own goals in this one! ;)

Losing ground? True Blackburn have gained something like 14 points on us but theyre catchable but Shrewesbury can be overtaken on Wednesday. Not enough reason there for us not to be winning a cup match Mutty. Saints may feel differently though.
Just wondering which clubs academy team Sunderland will have in their Checkatrde group next season. May be Boro or Newcastle youth for the Black Cats derby next season.

Shrewsbury & Blackburn won yesterday. Wigan drew. Unless i’m very much mistaken, you are now further behind them with the same number of games in hand than you were at 3pm yesterday. That constitutes “losing ground” in my book. Maybe it doesn’t in yours, but hey-ho!

I think Southampton reserves will show up next Sunday. Their first team have 8 games left, of which 5 are away. Two of the three home games are against Chelsea & Man City. £100m+ or a day out at Spurs’ home ground where they’ve already played this season – no brainer for them. Whether Cook sees it as a straight choice is up to him I guess. I also guess the possible takeover plays some significance, as DW isn’t prepared to bankroll higher level football, so a cup run with an “unfortunate” missing out on promotion due to fixture congestion and fatigue may be his preferred option if the Hong Kong set are not going to buy the club this season.

As for Sunderland – so be it. Its been a long-time coming and shows what happens when the turd that stuck to the side of the toilet for too long is finally flushed. I’ve long-since resigned them to 3rd division football next season, and nothing a non-season ticket holder at Wigan Athletic says will make me feel any more anger or frustration about the collective bunch of tossers, so save your energy fella.

Just gone to print mine off and I think they need to update the system.

Tickets have 12BET and SKY Bet Championship on.
