What stadiums would you like to have gone to, that you never did, and now never can
Again, my list in no particular order:
1. Roker Park
2. Crystal Palace (the old FA Cup stadium)
3. The Nest, Norwich (if you don’t know about this ground, Google it)
4. The (old) Den
5. Ayresome Park
6. Ninian Park
7. The Vetch17 May 2014 at 8:48 pm #131243Did 5 of them with the Latics, although for various reasons I have not been to the New Den.
17 May 2014 at 8:49 pm #131245I went to the Vetchfield when they had their largest crowd !!!!!
The Who in 1976 !!!!!! B)
17 May 2014 at 8:51 pm #131247But where would you like to have gone to?
17 May 2014 at 9:22 pm #131253The old Hampden Park must have been impressive, except when there were 500 watching Queens Park!
Or what about White City? Held a game in the 1966 WC as Wembley’s then owner wouldn’t cancel the greyhound meeting…gone to the dogs indeed
18 May 2014 at 6:00 pm #131286Always regret missing the Baseball ground, by all accounts pretty special on a big night match.

For me it would have to be the original Valley. How the hell did 70 odd thousand fit in theer?.
19 May 2014 at 7:49 pm #131328Roker Park
The Dell
The Den
Manor Ground
Plough Lane20 May 2014 at 7:09 pm #131362The Dell. Just to see that rather weird stand behind the goal.
20 May 2014 at 11:06 pm #131364The Dell. Just to see that rather weird stand behind the goal.I did actually see that – 1972 Saints v Liverpool – and it was incredibly weird. I was in the away end opposite, and that was tiny. Smaller than Torquay!
20 May 2014 at 11:15 pm #131366I’m sure the away end had some weird ‘higher tiers’ in the eighties when I went in the FA Cup.
20 May 2014 at 11:31 pm #131367I’m sure the away end had some weird ‘higher tiers’ in the eighties when I went in the FA Cup.Thinking about it, that may have been the away end at that time.
21 May 2014 at 12:24 am #131370I think the Chocolate Boxes were always the home end. The away end was tiny, crammed in by a road behind.
I think they may have extended slightly as this picture seems to show it a bit bigger than I remember – but then again I may be mistaken. Whatever, it was quite small.
21 May 2014 at 12:54 am #131372I just seem to remember fans stood on some kind of small balcony above us. It is a long time ago though.
I remember thinking that those diagonal segregation bits looked weird also.
I can’t remember any other ground having standing and seating areas on the sides on the same tier like that with the standing areas starting at an angle to the rear of the seats.
Weird but wonderful old ground. Sadly missed, but I’m glad I at least went once.22 May 2014 at 2:34 am #131389I just seem to remember fans stood on some kind of small balcony above us. It is a long time ago though.

I Remember Shilton giving us cheap corners making simple saves look like worldies. -
