… and finally – what stadiums would you like to go back to that either no longer exist or have completely changed
1. Springfield Park (circa 1972)
2. Anfield (similar)
3. old Wembley before it was all seater
4. Highbury (again when had terraces)
5. Villa Park (before the Milton Stand was demolished – a criminal act – and the Holte End had all its barriers before some came to SP
6. Stamford Bridge (when oval and had terraces and atmosphere)
7. Baseball Ground
8. Filbert Street
Facilities at the old grounds left a lot to be desired.
However, one of the attractions was that they had standing behind the goals and on the terraces. I think that accounts for much of their sentimental appeal.
The Old Showground, went there quite a few times and saw us bang in plenty goals, including a 7-2 victory. Les Bradd scored quite a few of them.
A young and upcoming cricketer named Ian Botham played a few games for Scunny during that period too.
I might be off the mark here, but did those floodlights seem to give off a yellowy cast on everything, very strange. :woohoo:
