Went to it with eldest lad, didn’t buy a thing. People grabbing all sorts of so called ‘official’ match worn gear. Picked up a Dan Burn shirt and a Colclough shirt. Was very sceptical, due to the size of the Burn top. I don’t think they’d been anywhere near the players. People were chucking daft Money on what is essentially, old tat. I was a bit alarmed to see pictures that had been on the walls of the stadium, for sale. It was like a fire sale. My opinion is that the deal is very close to completion and the Whelans are wanting to get shut of anything they can. It was alarming that many historical pictures were being sold off. Most of the kit and training items were Kappa… Clearly getting shut so the new Puma range can arrive. We were first in, and I can say for a fact that club staff had definitely had first dibs on players shirts. Most shown on the club site weren’t there. We saw many people leaving with stuff in bags, before the event had even opened. I told my lad I’d get him the new kit instead. Even he agreed that it was just old tat being got shut of.

      Completely disagree.
What are they supposed to do with the old pictures? They’ve had their day. Bin them, or let some fans have them for a few quid where they can show them on their walls?
All the stuff for sale was dirt cheap (no-one was spending “silly money” as the prices were so low), the club have got rid of a load of old stuff that there is clearly no room for (or except in an event like this no call for), the proceeds go to the Community Trust, and loads and loads of people are now going to be around wearing Latics stuff.
Personally, I think it was a great idea for a good purpose, and nothing at all to do with any takeovers or Whelan or whatever other conspiracy theory.
There was a big enough queue of people to pay who would disagree with your sentiments.

7 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of training shorts, 4 shirts and a jacket for 50 quid. Thats me kitted out for my holidays and home games.

As for the pictures like GL says what do you want them to do? If they refurb the room then the pics will have to go.

Oh, and like most warehouse sales the staff get first go but will be restricted on what they have

I agree vatty lad. No point in selling it on at cost (bearing in mind theyve already made their money) and making a few quid for charity when they can throw it all in the bin to make room for new stuff. Im also gonna pay over 100 notes for the new kit rather than do what eggs done the scrubber.

Your lad agrees with you a lot pal. Must be top that when arguing with the wife.

Damn it. And they had a sign saying no returns.
I feel such a fool buying a light jacket for a fiver. I feel I’ve thrown my money away.
We also got plenty of stuff for my grandson that he can go out, mess about in, and get it dirty, without us worrying that we’ve spent a fortune on an up-to-date kit that he will wear only at games. Obviously Stu is right.

Should have been your first clue that Garswood.

You gotta get up early to get one over on lads like me and Vatty.

Well my opinion is that it was a load of old tat.

Was funny watching people rummaging to find a bargain though. Like something from a third world appeal film. Ha ha

Well I am more than happy with my bargains. Especially considering 4 of the shirts were still bagged and with the tags on so not exactly ‘old tat’ unless of course Whelan has had me over again there.

Out of interest, what size shirt is Dan Burn? He is tall but very lanky and with the tight fitting I would go medium?

                #169891

                You tell em vat.

Of course you were had eggy. Laughing all the way to the bank is owd whelan. As for Superman being a medium? I know the likes of 16st rugby players get into shirts us mortals cant get over our heads but Burn is clearly a 4xl

£8,000 raised for Wigan Community Trust by the sale “of old tat”.
Well done, very well done, to all who organised, and to everyone who went along – and bought stuff – that has helped a good cause.
