Stand Up Sit Down is an organisation that want standing areas at football grounds around England.
Here’s the website for everyone in the ES2 crew

What a journey!26 May 2010 at 10:26 pm #34858Is that trying to stop people standing up during games when people get a possible scoring opportunity etc. If so just sit in the West Stand (Which I did every season until the last 2) .. It’s just something that happens through excitement! Much better atmosphere in places like East stand (Inc ES2) where people actually get a bit of emotion for a game!
26 May 2010 at 10:51 pm #34865This isn’t about standing up when things get exciting. Everyone accepts that will happen.
JR and I andmany others are old enough to remember why all-seater stadiums were introduced. Whatever we may think about this and that, of “campaigns” and “memorials” and whatever, remember that 96 people one day went to watch a football match, just as you and I now happily do, and they never came home.
Football is a lot safer now. We don’t have to arrive at a ground hours before kick-off (maybe not at the DW but the principle is the same). We can take small kiddies and elderly relatives. We don’t have to worry when crowds surge forward. Or some idiot or drunk somewhere decides to act stupidly/inconsiderately/dangerously.
If that means we have to sit down then I for one accept that.

What a journey!27 May 2010 at 6:05 pm #34913Its called giving people a choice.
There should be seating areas available for those who wish to sit & there should be standing areas available for those, who like me, wish to stand.
In the past we had that choice. Now we don’t & I think that’s wrong
The Hillsborough tragedy was caused by a combination of many factors & so to blame it on terracing is naive (IMO)
