Lets hope it doesn’t. Football and stadia have moved on and in the main due to the fact that many people have died on terraces.
There’s nowt better than sitting in comfort watching the match without trying to bend your neck through 360 degrees, cos the bloke in front of you is 6 foot 4.
Its a bit like going back to not having seat belts in cars, cos they restrict your movement. It would take a brave, brave man to give it the nod. :scared-eek:
Think the fans should have a choice, you get people standin in all-seater stands, then the row behind can’t see and so on! prefer sittin myself but should be able to choose, can’t see it happenin though.

standing didnt have anything to do with hillsborough and even if it did this isnt going to terraces like it was back then, instead it will be basically like it is now but with barriers infront of you. so each get there own seat etc so there wont be overcrowding.
In my opinion people should be given the option of whether they want to sit or stand
Also, terracing & terrace safety has moved on a million miles since the cattle like pens which played a part in the Hillsborough disaster
Although it has to be said they by no means caused it. Nor did they cause Heysel. Nor did they cause the Ibrox disaster. Nor is it what caused the Burnden Park disaster (although they played their part in this one).
There is no reason at all why modern terracing could not play its part in providing a safe environment to watch football
Dont forget we are talking about the people who wont even entertain goal line technology here !! We are losing our freedom in many ways more and more each day in many aspects of life. Conform or rebel !! :angry-soapbox:
People should be given the choice, and the introduction of terracing would be done in a safe way. However I bet the police have an input for this, as seating helps them control and film offenders to an extent.
Seating would have helped stop Hillborough and possibly Hysel, that would be debatable, but Ibrox was caused on the exit flow of fans leaving and turning to see what the noise was about. Early leavers of games should pay attention.
Personally I wouldnt care about terraces as I love my seat.
Behaviour of fans may have helped at both Hillsborough and Heysel. Being at Hillsborough without tickets and plain criminal hooliganism at Heysel.
We would be standing now if it hadnt been for the actions of a few so called fans at a few clubs.
Latics suffer more than any club with great swaithes of New Springfield not even being used never mind the standing argument.
Some parts of the East stand are cordoned off and from that point an away fan isnt even visible.
I will never forget the many dirty tricks the powers that be have pulled on my club. The recent ones are just what we should expect from people in positions of authority who are plainly anti Latics.
These same people would never ever consider standing at New Springfield.
How ironic was it that in view of my strong opinion about not standing at football matches, they had a news article about it on BBC north west last night and zoomed straight onto me standing at our last televised home game. The commentary at the time was something on the lines of “a lot of fans would prefer to stand at football matches”.
Should I sue the BBC for defamation of character or summut? :o

Do you not have to have a character to defame first !!!! :D
