The two vital league wins were only secured after McArthur replaced McManaman, and Di Santo contributed to one of them too.
Against Everton, Wigan were 3 up after 33 minutes. McManaman went off injured after 40 minutes. Miyaichi came on, and then McArthur. Wigan, without McManaman, were content to contain Everton in the second half.
Against Newcastle, the starting team played very well in the first half and went in at half time one up. The second half was a different story – Newcastle dominated play. McArthur came on for McManaman, but Newcastle equalised. Di Santo came on, replacing Beausejour, for the last ten minutes, and Wigan got a last minute equaliser.
Against Norwich, the team barely matched Norwich in the first half. The same pattern continued in the second half until McArthur again replaced McManaman. Wigan took control of the game and Kone scored the winner.
Although he has only come on midway through the second half in each game, I’d say that McArthur has been just as influential as McManaman, if not more.

If all the Mc’s start Millwall will be singing are you Scotland in disguise…
For me, keep it the same except start with McArthur instead of McManaman.
Reckon Callum would be a great impact player against the Cockneys if its 0-0 after 70 min
What about the team for Sunday; any clues there? I would play the strongest side at QPR and Wembley…then rest a few at Cittey.

We played the same team last season in that run in so I would do exactly the same this season with the only changes being rotating McManaman and Gomez. We have to keep the spine of the team the same imo.

If we’ve beaten QPR and Millwall and results have gone our way then we could rest some of the older legs like Alcaraz and Boyce and those who’ve played nearly every game like Figueroa and McCarthy.

Gomez and Di Santo can play broadly the same role. McArthur and McManaman offer different qualities.
Now Martinez can look at the bench and see someone there who can bring something fresh to the team.
I do think McCarthy deserves a rest, but I don’t know if he’ll get one before the end of the season.
