The chairman before Dave Whelan who saved us from going out of business seemed to just disapear. What ever happened to him. We tend to forget that man put the Latics on the road to stability and some fantastic times. To be continued in the Dave Whelan era.
From latics he went on to Colchester & he may even have been involved with Ipswich after that but it might just be my mind paying tricks on me
As for stabilising us – dunno about that. he saved us from the horror of Bill Kenyon but things continued to be pretty dire. One story I heard either Kenny Swain or Brenda Spencer tell the media was that in the summer of 1994 the club could not even afford to buy paper for the fax machine. I wouldn’t call that stability
On the flip side he made exactly the right appointment in Graham Barrow as that saved us from relegation from the football league. he wasn’t the manager to take us forward but he was needed at that point
Its hard to gage where he would be right now ! :shh:
ha ha ha that’s not like you Phil! i was surprised you was not on the salmon thread when he signed. I thought of John dory but Lostock hall Latic beat me to that pun.
