I think a few clubs have been linked with him. Sunderland, Blackburn, and us in the past, for sure.
Heard last night they’d operated but not been able to remove the bullet, and he was in a life-threatening condition. Hope he’s alright. When you hear of somebody shot in the head, usually that’s it. Game over. But occasionally, people survive, but then have a lot of rehabilitation and usually some form of disability. I can think of two examples, from real life, which were portrayed in popular war films.
Recently, Chuck Grant, from Band Of Brothers got shot in the head by a drunken private from I company, 506th PIR. He was almost given up for dead, but luckily a German surgeon operated and saved him. He lived until 1984, and lived a normal life.
In ‘A Bridge Too Far’, Captain Le Grand Johnson, of the 101st Airborne, was shot in the head in Holland, and was given up for dead. However one of his sergeants, Charles ‘Eddie’ Dohun had promised to ‘keep him alive’. He rushed him to an aid station and was told to “stick him on the pile” of bodies. However Dohun noticed a flicker in Johnson’s eye, he was still alive, and he pursuaded a surgeon to operate and it saved his life. He went on to live a long life.
So, hope for Cabanas.
