I think de ridder is long gone, but i agree with your comments we now have a clown as a manager and we dare not say anything bad about him because uncle dave will take his ball home and never come out to play again big deal, total dross on the menu at the DW and it wont get much better with martinez in charge
20 September 2010 at 10:21 pm #46912You fickle set of cnuts!!
Matched Chelsea for 45 mins, beat Spurs on their own middin, battered Sunderland for nigh on 90 mins, outplayed city for 43 mins.
I’m as frustrated as anyone that we are not winning games and actually thought Sunday was our worst performance player for player this season so far, inc. Blackpool.
However, getting so negative after so few games played, with so many new faces on board, is total wubble.
I suggest that if you are all Latics fans on here and I don’t think for one minute that some of you are, we follow the old cliche, take one game at a time.
Don’t get too excited when we beat the likes of Spurs, but at the same time don’t rant like a little baby whose mummy has taken their rattles off them, when we lose or play bad. :? :o :x :roll:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!21 September 2010 at 2:16 am #469382 goals in 5 games.
No goals in the first 3/4 of any game.
Were not creating chances.
Were not testing opposition goalkeepers.
With all the above being true, i couldn’t care less if we outplayed the Spanish national team.

Sunderland – 16 shots 4 on target
Tottenham – 11 shots 4 on target
Hartlepool – 18 shots 8 on target
Chelsea – 10 shots 6 on target
Blackpool – 9 shots 5 on targetYup see where you are coming from there!!!
21 September 2010 at 12:51 pm #46957If I kept continually trying to pick up a white hot piece of coal & it kept burning my hand, sooner or later I would realise that the things is too hot for me to pick up & I should try picking up something else
Watching Roberto Matinez over the last 14 months reminds me of that Homer Simpson clip where he keeps trying to grab the 4 pack of beer off the electricity cables, gets electrocuted but keeps trying to grab hold of them anyway
Will he ever learn his lesson that there is more than one way to skin a cat & that if his preferred way isn’t working he shoudl try something else even if its just tinkering with his formation??? I don’t think I’ve seen a more one dimensional, naive & pig headed manager in my 23+ years of watching Latics
What’s the use in him telling the players that they need to learn to cut out the stupid mistakes if they can see him making the same ones over & over & over & over again??21 September 2010 at 1:18 pm #46960I cant believe Martinez doesnt see the option of changing the formation and tactics etc, he obviously believes in them and will stick with it.
The real issue in any game, like Sunday is that if he sees it isnt working he will only change it in the last 5 or 10 minutes. I do wonder if its the players who change it not Martinez?

Thats an average of about 5 shots on target a game, and 4 of those were home games. Thats great isnt it? Well worth my money. More importantly, hardly any of those chances were with any conviction, for example i can think of numerous of them being weak headers, and weak/desperate shots from outside the area which rolled into the goalkeepers arms – so they are not even goalscoring chances.
When we get into the final third we simply do not look as if we know what to do. Its been the same for over a year, and as TyldesleyLatic is saying, if it hasnt worked up to now why will it suddenly change?

There’s no problem with him believing that a certain style of play &/or formation is the right way to play football. In certain games the system he believes in has worked really well and other teams have had a great deal of success playng that way but any half-decent manager realises that they have to have a back up plan – whether that be a change of formation or a change of tactic.
If you’re 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go you have to change something to try & get somet out of the game. If he does see other options but chooses to ignore them then it shows him as a poor manager. If he doesn’t see them then it shows him as a poor manager tooTo wait until the 86th minute when you’re 2-0 down to make his “attacking changes” shows him up as a poor manager too
I didn’t expect us to win on Sunday regardless of what formation we played but its the manner of the defeat, in fact the manner of most of Latics defeats under Bobby, and his apparent inability to learn any sort of lessons from his mistakes that have long convinced me that he aint the man for the job21 September 2010 at 4:08 pm #46969All we hear is we beat Arsenal, Liverpool,Spurs,do you reckon 9 points is enough???????????
21 September 2010 at 4:23 pm #46970To be fair we also beat Chelsea :)
21 September 2010 at 4:39 pm #46971And Aston Villa, West Ham, Sunderland, Burnley twice and Wolves….

This is s h i t e and has been since ‘Bob’ took over, its not gonna get any better no matter how positive you try to be.

Even if he takes us down?
21 September 2010 at 10:10 pm #46986You lot don’t understand “The Plan”!.
Under Bruce, Wigan averaged 220 passes per match. “The team did well under Steve, but I want us to pass the ball more, to get away from the territorial game,” said Martinez. “At Swansea, we averaged over 550 passes per game. I want Wigan to do the same.
