Oh yeah he is a perfect Wigan signing free, absolutely useless and will not command big wages.
You no what they say pay peanuts get monkey’s, just about sums us up.

Its not like defenders cost a lot, we should go out and someone with a brain when we sell Zog. On a plus side, I have never seen Caldwell but he couldn’t be any worst than our current back line.
23 August 2010 at 6:56 pm #43802Looks like martinez as landed the new manager with more rubbish too get shut of :x

Mikaël Silvestre
Free agent at the moment – only a couple of years older than SC, can play at left back, I know his wages might be a problem but he’s free so could pay a little more than our cap – and we’d only need him for a year. Would bring that much needed ‘premiership experience’ to the defence (could even do a little ‘coaching’ if pressed).
Radical thought is what we need.
23 August 2010 at 7:03 pm #43804He’s got one ‘eck of a neck though.

I’ve always thought of Silvestre as a bit of a joke, but you’re right about bringing in some experience.
He’s always looked like a sack of shoite at Man Utd and Arsenal, but that’s probably down to the class of the other players around him.
Then again, Alcaraz hasn’t looked the same player that held Italy to a draw and scored at the other end. World Cup hangover? The current results should give him plenty of sobering thoughts

Silvestre would be an awesome signing, maybe we could give him a hefty signing on fee instead of breaking our salary cap. He’s probably still got a house in the north west from his Utd days.
I think the best signing we could make is a couple of rock solid defensive coaches. I think a lot of the problem is poor organisation which starts on the training ground. No offence to Martinez because he seems like a clever guy but when has he ever had top level experience before.
