On the day if another Latics relegation. I had the misfortune to Hear some oatcake prat on the radio tonight saying sack their manager mark Hughes who has just secured another seasin in the premier league surely an achievement for a small club like them.
He then went on to say when compared with burnley “don’t speak about us in same breath as burnley”
How the radio didn’t go through the window at that point I’ll never know .
Burnley have an top flight league title on their honours list and joke city have a league cup and that’s it.
So arrogant and deluded but have a feeling karma will bite next season for them.

On the hate listIn all honesty, what more can Stoke actually achieve, other than another year of survival? They peaked around 3 or 4 seasons ago, and you clearly feel there’s only one way they can go now. Same with Swansea, West Brom, etc. The top flight is divided into the top 4 or 5, the middle also runs, and the bottom 8 who are just Scratting to stay up each year. Villa have gone, Sunderland are going, and it will be Stoke’s turn soon enough.
Maybe they’ve gone stale under Hughes. But a few of their fans could do well to think about the job he has done there.
30 April 2017 at 5:33 pm #158539I was more riled by the arrogance of te caller and his audacity to consider Stoke city a big club that should always be in the top flight.
They have won only one trophy in their history and a Mickey Mouse one at that.
we have a bigger history in the cup

Stakes that they haveHe’s probably been going since they got promoted to the Premier League. That’s happened to a lot of clubs, it happened to us as well. They all drop off when the top flight days are gone, as they are part timers. What do Stoke have to play for each season? Survival. Same as we had.
Bigger club than us, but we’ve actually won more. They’re another Bolton who’s star player retired 60 years ago. Was having ‘banter’ with some Noblot last night and they were going on about us going down. I said “at least our history is in colour…yours is in black and white”.30 April 2017 at 6:18 pm #158544The premier league is getting almost as boring as the Scottish Premier League now in terms of who can do well. I know Leicester won it last season, but the new TV deal means the big clubs will make sure that will never happen again.
Supporting a football club shouldn’t be about hoping for 4th bottom and feeling good about winning 25% of your games.
Stoke are one of those dozen clubs who make up the numbers in the Premier League. Nobody but their 20,000 supporters really cares if they are there or not.

1 May 2017 at 2:52 pm #158566The Bolton response is a cracker however in some respects I was pleased for them yesterday as not all of their supporters are bell ends.
Premier league football is so predictable nowadays you can virtually predict the top seven and Stoke just tread water and hit 40 points then pack up.
At least we tried to entertain and our stay in there with all the heroic escapes gave us a slightly bigger profile than the tread water teams like west brom and Stoke. -
