Can we have a 4/4/2,please.
Let’s see Moses play from the start and pretend we are an attacking home team.
Please Robert.
I thankyou.7 February 2010 at 10:15 pm #21951Who would you drop?

Scharner, headless chicken in the Scott green mould.
7 February 2010 at 10:55 pm #21957Scharner,headless chicken in the Scott green mould. You what? Scott Green? Ok he may have lost his way alittle towards the end of his career with us but he was a decent footballer for this football club.
And how can you compare a midfield player with a full back?
7 February 2010 at 11:01 pm #21959Anonymous
I was not comparing positions was I?
I was making the point that they both bomb forward with usually no end product, lots of effort, lacking in an idea of the end product, hot air and wind.
I want to see 4/4/2 to see some crosses and get my arse off my seat for a change.
We have the ability on the wings now, let’s use it,at least at home.7 February 2010 at 11:08 pm #21962We have had numerous headless chickens over the years and your decision to use Scott Green to make your point was a strange one.

7 February 2010 at 11:43 pm #21971Scharner,headless chicken in the Scott green mould. In my opinion he did a good job on Saturday.
If you attended the game, you would haved noticed that he kept Cattermole very quiet indeed. He was onto Clatters the moment he received the ball; really gave him a taste of his own medicine. Well done Scharner ( his distribution was still suspect, but I think he did the job that was given to him for the day ). Aybody else notice that ?8 February 2010 at 3:10 pm #22004Scharner does not have the class to play in that roving position in midfield. The effort he had in the first half is symptomatic of his lack of attacking ability.
As I’ve said before, I wish all our players had Scharner’s enthusiasm as we’d be pushing for Europe. However, if all our players had his ability on the ball we’d be bottom!
8 February 2010 at 3:40 pm #22006Cattermole was like a mouse on Saturday once he found out that he coudn’t rule the roost with Thomas about. He tried it on early doors by clattering young MaCarthy, who then gave him some verbals, fair play to the young un here.
Still, whish we still had Cattermole though.8 February 2010 at 4:30 pm #22012We play 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 both home and away. That won’t change, all we can guess at is the selection which, tomorrow night should be a mixture of big and strong + pace and quality as Stoke will hoof every ball, try to win corners and throws whereas we will pass the ball about and make opportunities which is why we need both height and strength balanced with pace and quality.
Stoke have plenty of height and strength but not much pace and quality, that is where we can match them and better them on the night.
I’d like to see Moses and Moreno from the start as I think with the fans behind them they can really make a name for themselves and will be urged on as much as possible. However, saying that I wouldn’t know who to drop BUT I think Moses from the start is a must with his pace, tricks and quality.
Moreno would add height to the team but to bring the 2 of them in would mean dropping 2 players from the team that started at Sunderland. Scharner has been criticised recently but he will add height to the team, Diame for me is our best midfield player, N’Zogbia is our biggest threat, Hugo is our top goalscorer, Thomas will get in the Stoke players faces and get stuck in, McCarthy hasn’t done much wrong since he started but I think he would be the 1 to drop to the bench:
Kirkland, Boyce, Caldwell, Bramble, Figueroa, Diame, Scharner, N’Zogbia, Rodallega, Moses, Moreno.
Subs: Stojkovic, Melchiot, Thomas, McCarthy, Sinclair, Gomez and Scotland.
I’m not sure if I can see Bobby dropping Thomas and McCarthy to the bench but we’ll see, however he lines up i’m confident of 3 points and another 3 next wednesday against Bolton would be great.
9 February 2010 at 1:25 am #22064Scharner would make a good sweeper !! No brush jokes please I am being serious !
9 February 2010 at 12:09 pm #22067Scharner would make a good sweeper !! No brush jokes please I am being serious !Now on that Fil, I agree with you. He would just have to step up his concentration a bit ,but I’d say he’s definitely cut out for the sweeper role.
Pity no-one really plays that system anymore
