Strikers…..

I’m not quite sure what’s going on with Wyke. The hip injury was a new one on me as I don’t think anyone had heard that one ever mentioned before the other day.

Personally I think there’s more to it than meets the eye with Wyke. Whether he gets on with the manager I’m not too sure but at some point we all work for bosses we don’t get on with but you still have to be professional and still do your job.

I can kind of understand Stones needing minutes but on the same token we also need players. If Wyke does go to Carlisle then I’m sure we’ll look at the loan situation. The problem with that is, most clubs of the bigger clubs keeps their cards close to their chest i.e. wait till the end of Jan before letting players go out on loan so let’s hope we don’t let ours go too soon and end up short for a month.

I still feel we’ve an awful long way to go and although some people might harp on about possible play offs I’m looking below us. We’re closer to the bottom than the play offs. Wouldn’t it be ironic if Wyke goes there and bangs a few in and puts us in the sh!t.

I feel the manager feels Cze is on the verge of regular football but let’s face it, bar the odd game Wykes signing for the wages he got has been a nuclear disaster. Paying players the sums of money the likes of Wyke played a part in our demise.

There’s a very thin tightrope line made cotton between good players and youth players and balancing the books and challenging for promotion.

This is were good managers are worth their weight in gold,
Is Maloney the man ?, hopefully yes but only time will tell

Every club screams for a striker who can bang a few in it’s the do all and end all and if he comes through the ranks then even better, quids in.

We cannot afford the wages so we have to look at our own or be clever finding a striker who’s just lost his way. I remember Moses and N’Zogbia (not technically strikers I know) but players who were just losing their way but could score goals from out of nothing and Zaki.

That’s what we need to do, try and find those hidden gems again. Paying £10k+ a week for players who’ve never really hit the hieghts and at the back end of their career was madness.

This is were any investment should be heading, youth and scouting not top end wages. we’ve a catchment area Utd City Liverpool Everton were these young lads don’t need to up sticks they can travel in daily, we need to tap into this big time.

And on the subject, if youth players aren’t given a chance then how will they improve ?. Kolo Touré spotted Charlie Hughes’s talent and threw him straight in while Richardson never even gave him a sniff.
Again it goes back to the manager been brave and giving these lads a chance and tbh financially we don’t have much choice
