Is this game against arsenal the one where we need to think about going all out. changes are nearly always made and i hope we go down blazing if we are to go out. wenger may well play a team of kids again, in which case we could capitalise on it.
don’t give the smart arse comments, they’re probably not that smart

It will be a strong Arsenal squad. They don’t have the depth anymore to put a second string out.

Every time we play a ‘top 4’ team someone always asks the question or says that we should just go out and go for it. mentioning this and asking this question is irrelevant as the Manager will do what he pleases. I don’t think he will go all out, and if we go, we could get smashed. I will be happy just to see us put up a fight, but I genuinely think we can get something from this game, so, fingers and pubes crossed.
29 November 2010 at 4:10 pm #51958If you look at the line up that Arsenal put out against newcastle it was much changed from what you’d consider their strongest side but it wasn’t quote the “youth team” he’s put out in recent years.
Since that game I think a couple of the players he played have got injured & he risked Fabregas in a game who also subsequently got injured (he was on the bench for the Newcastle game) so I think Wenger will make a fair few changes & if any of his “stronger” players are carrying knocks & niggles I think he’ll go on the side of caution & leave em out
Bobby i think should look at this as a way to pump some life back into the season & go with his strongest line up but I suspect after his comments after the victory in the last round (“I will continue to rotate the squad for these games”) and after the defeat against Fulham (“Too many of the players were tired after the midweek cup victory against Swansea”) that he will make changes
29 November 2010 at 4:54 pm #51964There will be no more than three or four youth/reserve team players in Arsenal’s squad.
A change of keeper, one in midfield and perhaps one in defence. The other will be on the bench. Arsenal are desperate to win somethng this year.
29 November 2010 at 4:56 pm #51965Tomorrow night could be a pivotal point of our season. We either go down there with some belief and attack Arsenal with the aim of getting a positive result or we sit back as we have done a lot this season and go out with a whimper.
I don’t subsribe to the theory that if we go out and attack Arsenal we’ll get whalloped. Arsenal have shown on several occasions that they are incredibly fragile at the back. If we don’t get at them then we will be inviting pressure and with the way our back four played on Saturday we will crumble.
I would abandon 4-5-1 tomorrow and go 4-4-2 with Di Santo and Boselli in attack. Di Santo does plenty of running around like a headless chicken so he is more than capable of defending from the front and Boselli can feed off any scraps that come his way. Those two muppets in the heart of the Arsenal defence are there to be got at. I would also start with Moses and drop Gomez.
Picture the two scenarios. We play some decent attacking stuff and come away with a famous win with our tails up and optimism renewed among our fans.
Or we get tonked 4-0 after playing in a similar vein to Saturday leaving the players deflated for a vital game with Stoke and leaving even the most loyal Bobby fan questioning whether we have the bottle to stay up.
I’m praying it’s the former :?

I don’t care if Arsenal play their strongest eleven we still have a chance of beating them on their own patch. West Brom (although a lot more free scoring than us!) put three past them and so did Spurs.
If we go about this game in the right way we can get a result.

The Arsenal line up from the last round was:
53 Szczesny
06 Koscielny
20 Djourou
27 Eboue
28 Gibbs (Sagna 19 yellow card)
40 Eastmond
07 Rosicky
14 Walcott
15 Denilson
11 Vela (Fabregas 70)
52 Bendtner (Emmanuel-Thomas 84)The Arsenal line up from Saturday was:
21 Fabianski
03 Sagna
06 Koscielny
18 Squillaci
22 Clichy
07 Rosicky
08 Nasri
17 A Song
19 Wilshere
23 Arshavin
29 ChamakhNow I know that some of those from the league cup game would have played on Saturday had they been fit but I also know that Wenger will still make plenty of changes for tomorrow’s game
29 November 2010 at 5:30 pm #51970The team to face Wigan will be very similar to the the one that beat Newcastle – without Rosiky and Fabregas but with Arshavin and Van Persie.
It’s hardly the kids’ team from years gone by.
30 November 2010 at 11:46 pm #52094At the risk of saying ‘told you so’, told you so. Wenger is not f@cking about with the Carling Cup this season.
He wants to win something this year to keep his moronic fans happy.
