Maybe, just maybe, an informed piece on the the latics on the BBC?
3 April 2010 at 3:51 pm #28455Not a bad article. Specifically liked the part where he mentioned the play off final and how shops and bakerys had “come on gillingham” in their windows.
Maybe make some people (mainly the media) realise the struggle we have to attract support.
3 April 2010 at 4:08 pm #28457Its on the BBC website now > http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal … 601698.stm
Although they seem to have cut all the action shots from the piece that was on FF.
3 April 2010 at 4:53 pm #28463double post somehow. doh!
3 April 2010 at 6:25 pm #28469Good piece, it’s just a pitty he uttered those words ‘rugby town’, as if you take into account Utd/Liverpool etc. supporters, Wigan is, and always will be, a football town.
Then again anyone who lives here knows that.
3 April 2010 at 6:34 pm #28470I doubt we will ever shake off the stigma of being a rugby town. Wherever I go whether it be in this country or abroad,as soon as i say who I support they invariably utter the phrase ” Thats a rugby town aint it ” !!
3 April 2010 at 6:48 pm #28471was that the bjm i heard on ff when they were showing man city?
3 April 2010 at 8:26 pm #28476Interesting that he claims to have been there against Ipswich when Wigan gained promotion to the Premier League. One wonders why he was watching Sunderland at Portman Road that day when his “beloved” Wigan were playing Reading.
3 April 2010 at 8:27 pm #28477Dunno Jeff I didnt watch it ! Airbourne tonight at Apollo gonna be pretty loud 10 double Marshall stacks cranked up to 11 !!

Oh, and weren’t Ipswich playing Brighton?
Ipswich played Sunderland a week or two previous, it was that draw that gave back Latics back the promotion advantage.

4 April 2010 at 12:17 am #28501Well, thats me and the editor of the Wigan Athletic Vital Football site who both thought that.
I cant post the link, but the editorial says:
“The mists of time though have clouded Stuarts memory slightly as he recalls he was at the JJB when we gained promotion to the Premiership with victory over Ipswich Town, we did beat the Tractor Boys that season at home but I`m sure it was victory over Reading that sealed our fate.”
The Easter Weekend just keeps getting better – a thumping of Spurs today. Wonder what will happen over the next two days to make it a perfect 4?
