Excellent first half against Forest but I thought bringing Espinoza off was the wrong decision. He looked fed up being subbed when he was walking off. He is our fittest player at the club, I’m quite sure that is fact off what I have heard so he wouldn’t have been knackered. Thought he could have brought Watson off for Mc Arthur and played both Jimmys in front of back four. Thought McLean would have been better supporting Fortune if he had come on earlier instead of Mccant sorry McCann. Still need a decent left back for me to. Gomez stood out too. Well done the lads.
1 September 2013 at 4:56 pm #120309I too was surprised when Espinoza was subbed after putting a decent shift in, Watson should have been the one to make way. The left back position will hopefully be sorted when Garcia is up to speed. Also Gomez was excellent yesterday but he really must learn how to run around like a headless chicken and fly into tackles or he will never be accepted by some fans.

when will people learn. Gomez is a creative midfielder. He is not in the side to win the ball.
1 September 2013 at 5:56 pm #120311Whether we agree with his substitutions or not, it does make a refreshing change to see substitutes being used to try and change the dynamics of a game.
He is also not scared to change the team about either with 5 or so changes from the last match.1 September 2013 at 7:02 pm #120313Agree, Coyle has gone up in my estimations with his team selection and general willingness to swap players who are underperforming.

Just saying…
1 September 2013 at 11:14 pm #120326I saw Maloney gesturing to our bench that Espinoza was struggling with a knock. He did that rolly thing with his hands to say that he needed subbing.
Do you actually believe that Coyle would have subbed his best and most influential player on the pitch if he wasn’t forced to.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!1 September 2013 at 11:22 pm #120327Spot on i dont think coyle knows his best side and forest were getting a lot of joy down rogers side in the second half due to him being injured or knackered that is why the sub was made i think.
2 September 2013 at 5:24 am #120346He is also not scared to change the team about either with 5 or so changes from the last match. He didn’t choose to change the team. As Holt is injured, he had to.
Without Holt, there was no point in simply booting the ball up-field. And without a big centre forward, he played without a winger too. Instead, he played the ball through midfield to a mobile forward.
Introducing Rogne and Beausejour in defence obviously helped.
Anyway, whether it’s by chance or design, he has eventually reached the right answer. I trust this will continue as long as Holt is injured and Fortune is fit.
