A bit of a useless topic IMO as a lot will depend on which Division we are in. As depending on what League we are in will depend on who will stay and who we can afford to bring in.
Actually, I don’t. Others, with an udoubtedly misplaced inferiority complex, do, however. And they do it on such a regular basis as to make it very amusing.
You Griff chirp on about your ‘knowledge’ and I say loosly ‘connections’ within the club – so no doubt you will have some idea
If I did have connections at the club and if they chose to share such knowledge with me do you really think I would be sufficiently stupid or arsed to share them with the half-witted population of this forum?
That I believe is what Don was asking
But as usual, he offers no opinion himself. And my orignal assertion that this will become a pointless argument and slagging-ridden summer transfer thread has been proved correct before the summer is even 12 hours old.
We’re about twenty posts in and there’s not one suggestion for a summer target yet.
So, here’s one to get you started. I’d suggest the club targets a more intelligent and interesting fan base in the summer.
It is reported in one of todays red tops that Steve Cotterill is on the old silver fox’s radar
This backs up my thread completely – in that he has a proven track record of working in the Champ and more importantly a proven record of using a limited budget
which is no doubt the position upon relegation
and IMO will do a far better job than the current holder of the managers chair

Now who’s dissing Donnelly? Your thread???
And for someone who professes to know so well what Donnelly is trying to achieve with his thread, I think he was thinking of player targets, not managers.
Sorry if this has little to do with me but I read this thread and couldn’t help but reply.
Firstly, Griff – by complaining that this thread will turn sh1t, you’ve turned it sh1t, not that it was ever good mind.
Back on topic, I think if we go down we need a huge clear out of the high wage takers and the useless junk. Some fall in to both of these categories I’m guessing.
Also, if we stay up (hard for some of you to comprehend such optimism, but )we should have a clear out of all the useless junk.
Only then can we start targeting players because we don’t know budgets or which players are needed.

We wont need Cotterill we have a Manager and he will be here whichever division we are in. (In my opinion).
Aaron Ramsey as a replacement for Tom Cleverley which I think would be a great signing regardless of our division. If Koumas comes back to us next season in Championship we should defo keep him as a utility player.
Replacement for Al Habsi if we go down, that’s the big one. We could have got Schmeichal in the summer for free and he could of played for us for 10/15 years to come. Though, this remarkable season Ali’s having keeps on improving. He loves Wigan Athletic and if I was offered Joe Hart or Ben Foster on loan i’d still choose Al Habsi over them for his desire to do well for the fans.
The left back situation. Maynor can go for £5m and we’ll get in 2 decent left back’s within that amount. Paul Konchesky seems a good buy and since Liverpool are so keen to get him out, he could even go for £1-2m.
Zog’s replacement :? No doubt that as we’re almost certain to lose Charlie and Hugo our attack won’t be scoring many without 2 more additions. David Goodwillie is obviously one of the best players in Scotland and would come to Wigan for about £2m i’d say. If Boselli goes we need a good experienced striker to play with McManaman / Sammon. Beatie, Heskey, Carew, Chopra or Boyd would do the job.
