First of all congratulations to Roberto, you tactically for the first time that I can remember changed it and won us the game.
You dared and you won!!
Now if that doesn’t tell you that we have got to play 4-4-2 with Sammon and Hugo nothing will.
They played great off each other, linking up well and yes at times Hugo dropped into the hole to become his preferred 4-5-1.
Sammon a big muscular powerful striker at last.
Now for the moan – Santo you are dross !!
21 March 2011 at 3:06 pm #62243Still no proof it will work for 90 minutes so no, not the end of the debate at all.
And you’re right, Di Santo was pants.

Very pleased with bobby on saturday, started with cleverly, charlie and moses. Didn’t work at first and then started to gel.
When has bobby ever made such bold substitutions as bringing sammon and hot rod on?
di santo was utter garbage.21 March 2011 at 3:08 pm #62245Anonymous
maybe he’s growing less stubborn as he grows older. Lets hope this is a sign of things to come and we are actually showing now that we have a plan B

Got to agree. It was the fact we changed things that made the difference.
If we had started 442 and then switched to 451 it might have had a similar impact.
Well done Bob though. Still kept ’em both standing around on the touchline for 5 minutes plus before actually bringing them on though. Hugo was getting the right hump.
21 March 2011 at 3:23 pm #62248Did you notice how quick Santo was to want to get off. Started his exit even before his number came up. Must know what the rest of us knew – Hes sh!!!!!te – No heart for the fight.
21 March 2011 at 3:32 pm #62249Or maybe he knew he was being subbed and wanted to give his replacement the most time to change the game. !
21 March 2011 at 9:51 pm #62269Tried Charlie in ‘the hole’ :scared-eek:
30 games of the season gone and he still has no one to play in ‘the hole’ – had 4 transfer windows mind, still there is always Gomez I suppose
ffs – get Charlie attacking with pace on the wing
21 March 2011 at 10:22 pm #62272I believe a future role for McCarthey if we keep him, could be playing that position. Needs to add a little to his game, but definately has the temperament for the responsibility. I’d also like to see him captain.
With regards to the formation debate, I would question we actually did finish with 4-4-2. yes Sammon and Rodellaga came on but Hugo continued to play tucked in behind sammon and also seem to rotate the role. Doesn’t matter to me whether you class it 4-4-2 / 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 the fact is we murdered Birmingham and it didn’t suddenly start when Hugo and Sammon came on. Just hope what ever the hell happened on saturday continues till may.
Anyone see the spat between cribley, Gomez and Stam?
22 March 2011 at 3:29 am #62291Not me, did someone grotch on somebody?
22 March 2011 at 9:53 am #62293Cribbers very vocally decided to show Stam and Gomez that he wasn’t happy with their comments or actions. It brought pollit and Kirkland from the tunnel along with head steward. Not sure exactly what was said but Cribbley opened a can of whoop ass.
