I keep seeing loads of posts on here about tactics (4-5-1 vs. 4-4-2 etc). At the end of the day, this counts for more or less sod all.
What does matter is the mentality of the team which is instilled into them by Roberto. RM’s approach I’m sure is “whatever you do, don’t lose the ball”, which would be fine if we had Xavi and Iniesta playing for us, as we’d pass it around all day until the oppo got tired and we’d pick them off when needed. It’s a very risk averse approach and it’s the reason we are scoring sod all goals and getting hardly any chances.
Sometimes, you just have to gamble and take some risks, i.e. play a long ball when necessary, play a ball when someone makes a run even though there is a tracking defender, play a ball forward and go for a one two.
The analogy is, noone will ever get rich by sticking their money in the bank and keeping it there. You get rich by taking a risk and playing the markets.
We just simply have to be more positive.
