With just over two weeks to the start of the new season and as far as I am aware precisely 3 weeks until the transfer window closes, what has happened to this supposed takeover? Is it still on? There has been no media feedback now for about 2 months? It doesn’t bode well for the coming season the way things are if you ask me!
19 July 2018 at 3:01 pm #170415I’ve thought all along it’s being held up so that we don’t get held to ransom over any players we’re looking to sign. New owners with dosh = higher prices/bigger wages.

Fuck the EFL

19 July 2018 at 3:32 pm #170418read it somewhere to be completed by september couple of sticking points regarding the new owners want sole use for football the other whelan family want to keep hold of one of the training facilities which one im not sure
but i take these storys with a pinch off salt but you never know more likely everything in the takeover is being done properly by solicitors going through everything with a fine tooth comb untill both parties are satisfied with every thing
personally im not concerned how long it takes my worry is who is buying us IEC themselves dont seem too have much money
but there does seem to be a few other companies in the background as well which are all part of a larger organization19 July 2018 at 6:54 pm #170426The longer this goes on, the more worried i become.
19 July 2018 at 8:21 pm #170427It’s taking far to long this, so I’m expecting the plug to be pulled on the deal but as long as it’s all done properly and it goes through, fingers crossed were rich,I think !!!
20 July 2018 at 1:42 pm #170462You can only imagine Whelan will be wanting to retain some parts of the club/facilities and the IEC ain’t to happy about it.
If it takes 9 months to take over a small club then something just isn’t right. If it’s still going through then I would imagine any signings Cook wants to make will have to go by both partys old and new.
How long will Cook put up with it ?, Surely the lack of new better players doesn’t look good on his part20 July 2018 at 1:48 pm #170464I may be wrong, it did happen once but undoubtedly the original hold up was to see if we made it to the Championship. Not to mention due diligence from a family who loves the club and won’t want it sold to anyone. It hasn’t exactly been quiet in the football world either, in the last few weeks has it?
I think if we can get the signings we want over the line soon, you’ll see an announcement, if not after the transfer window closes.
Might not go through at all and if I’m honest, I’d probably prefer that. Could be worse than Brexit.
20 July 2018 at 3:20 pm #170466If promotion was the only factor then all the paperwork would have been completed. There must be something else holding it up, the takeover process has been going on since late last year.
You would have thought that within weeks of us gaining promotion we’d be under new ownership and Cook would know this seasons budget and players would be arriving but it seems like were waiting for the Prem to settle then pick up players on loan from the bigger local clubs and more than likely Liverpool or Everton.
There’s no harm in that but lots of Prem clubs are starting to stick appearance clauses into the loan contract which is fair play. I mean, why would the bigger clubs send them out on loan for them to simply learn how to keep the bench warm ?. This is why lots of today’s bigger clubs have started sending their young players to say Germany were they will be guaranteed 1st team minutes on the pitch.
Looking at our squad as it stands I can only see us struggling to compete with two thirds of the Championship teams, right now the squad is simply not strong enough, lets hope in changes in the next few weeks or we could be the new yo-yo club and mirror the likes West Brom and Birmingham

That to me is the objective this year.
20 July 2018 at 9:20 pm #170476Since mid May it’s been known the target completion date for the takeover was late August, early September.
If you read the IEC documents published on their website you will see they are buying everything. Including the building and land for what was Sharpy’s chippy.
22 July 2018 at 1:54 pm #170517Apparently Cookie fancies the Bradford striker and everyone involved at the club are emptying their piggy banks to cough up, he’s only valued at 750k the top clubs are paying 10’s of millions on players they must be indept up to their eyeballs wheres fair play buggered off to.

Competing with the bottom 3rd means 8 clubs and 3 go down. If we strengthen I cant see why we can’t finish mid table rather than a relegation scrap. If we are been taken over Aug/Sept that would be nearly 12 months. I can’t imagine a worse time just as the transfer window closes.
24 August 2018 at 12:02 pm #171345Heard off someone connected with the club that the takeover is as good as done.Don’t shoot the messenger but it gives us something to post about. Been assured it all bang on.They have purchased Sharpys to be used as a souvenir/tickets office and sports bar. They have paid for all the work on the new pitch and plan to spend 6 million on the stadium including the complete replacement of all seating(would think the seats used to advertise their brand). They have a 6 year plan…3 to reach premier league then 3 more to enter Europe. They blocked the sale of Nick Powell and plan to invest heavily inthe squad in the 2019 summer. Finally according to my “mole” the takeover when complete will make our club the 3rd wealthiest in the country….Lets see then !!!
