Was surprised when I didn’t see Kone’s name in that team…
Had a quality game – some of the best “hold up play” I’ve seen for a long time.
It’s an interesting choice and does give Wigan some credit.
It’s rather an odd exercise. Crooks is picking a complete team from all the weekend’s games. Wigan’s best player won’t get in if there is a better performance from another player in the same position. On the train coming home, the Everton fans all admired Kone. He did play well, but Crooks is obviously going to pick the forwards who scored.
I think all the players contributed to the win. The thing that impressed me was their performance as a team. In the first half they attacked Everton, in the second they contained them.
Martinez picked a strong team for the cup tie. A performance like that must surely lift the whole squad. I hope that on Sunday they carry on where they left off.
