Was I the only one that looked at that selection tonight and wondered wtf Coyle was thinking?

How can a manager keep making so many changes in a team, and changes that don’t seem to make any sense.

If Coyle thinks he needs to make changes then at least let the players play in positions that they and their team mates know they play in.
Tonight Coyle opted for a 4-5-1? maybe with a right winger on the left (mcmannaman) and an attacking midfielder on the right wing (Gomez).
He deployed Perch at left back (right footed) and put 2 left sided players on the bench.
This made no sense before kick off and looked worse up to half time.

I don’t blame the players one bit as they are trying to play the way Coyle is asking them.

It is Coyle that is to blame for these poor performances.

We have one of the best teams in this league (on paper) that are playing to Coyle’s instructions which are not working

I don’t buy into this bollox about the team being knackered and requiring rotation as Coyle has the players he’s resting on the bench.

Lets have a bit more consistency in team selection or our season is gonna be over before christmas.

We are FA cup champions for F*&ks sake. Lets start playing like it.

      Rant over.

        Exactly my sentiments to.

Totally agree. Starting to loose faith in Coyle. Playing wingers on the opposite side to where they naturally play means they never get any crosses in for fat Holt to get on the end of. Defenders know they are going to cut inside on to their better foot. don’t know whether tonight was a point gained or two lost. Roll on Saturday

I was going to post a similar thread myself TBH.

Good management is making the most of your resources. It’s hard to believe that Coyle is doing that.

Wigan are playing more games than other Championship teams. If we are to match their energy levels, then we have to rotate the team. Sir Alex had an enormous squad and was a master at rotation. But as Coyle and Moyes are finding out, it’s a difficult art.

You were doing so well :pinch:

Our team selections are at best, baffling.

Players who have played in midweek are at a great disadvatage to those who have had a week’s rest. Rotation is therefore a necessity as long we continue to play in Europe.

It will be interesting to see who Coyle takes to Kazan.
