Looking at the table and the teams around us I think that
Everton will pull away from the bottom when their better players come back from injury.
Hull may well struggle if Bullard cant stay fit
West Ham have quality in their squad and should stop up if they can keep hold of their players
Bolton will go down if they keep Megson, however if they sack him soon and get someone proper in (i.e Curbishley) they will stay up
Wolves and Portsmouth both look poor and will struggle.
Burnley may also find themselves in trouble if their home form wobbles in the 2nd half of the season.
I believe that we have too much quality in the squad to go down but how many times have we heard that before?
We need to start winning against the teams that will be in and around us. We havent done this so far and cant see us getting much from Stoke, Bolton and Blackburn as we dont have enough fight in the team and dont compete well with team who do.

      What are other peoples views?

It’s the games against the teams around us that will determine whether we stay up or not. Under Bruce and Jewell we had passion and a will to win which got us points against the bottom sides and scrappy 1-0 wins. Okay we didn’t pull up any trees against the big boys bit we came close on a few occasions.

We’ve lost that physical in-your-face style and that is purely and simply down to the new tactics that Bobby wants to impose on the team.

The reason why our back four is under so much pressure is because they are being asked to play balls out from the back, which they haven’t been asked to do for the last four seasons, and are constantly on the back foot when we lose possession playing our pretty, pretty football.

Don’t get me wrong, I like pretty pretty football, but we’re not Barcelona and never will be, so trying to play that way with inferior players in the fastest league in the world is obviously going to be difficult.

We need to vary our tactics and show some fight and passion if we are going to compete against the likes of Stoke, Bolton and Blackburn in the next few weeks.

Hopefully the fallout from Saturday and Stoke’s Christmas party row could stir us into some action on Saturday.
