The BBC have retained Hansen, Shearer and Lawrenson, and have added several new names to their list of pundits. These include Kevin Kilbane, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Les Ferdinand.

So far this season, I haven’t been impressed by any of the new generation. They seem to have monotonous voices, uninteresting observations and precious little insight. Garth Crooks labours on and the ill-mannered and argumentative Robbie Savage seems to get greater exposure week by week.

I’m not familiar with the Sky presenters, but the only pundit that I listen to with interest is Lee Dixon.

Ban the lot of them -I sky plus ( great invention btw) the programme then fast forward the boring analysis and just watch the football action.
The football league show is just as bad and I cannot see why they need so many presenters and pundits especially ones who couldn’t play.
Lawrenson and Hansen were world class players and you would also include Lineker and Shearer in that company but the rest of them?
Don’t even get me started on twitchers son and that effing Saturday night theatre garbage!!!!!

Lineker in Short List t’other day was accusing Neville’s MNF show of appealing to the geeks whereas MOTD was more generalist and that s why they where the most watched show by a long mile.

Er no dumb ass – its cost the vast vast majority of folks don’t have Sky or BT so have no choice but to watch the dumbed down, generalist, unintelligent, subjective dross they serve up , or they just have it on while they’re waiting for the just as poor Football League show. Plus the big 4 pandering clearly swells the numbers.

MOTD has one less viewer this season. One of the things I was pleased about by being relegated was to not have to watch that tired old format any more.

At least Sky and BT are trying different approaches with live audiences, journos and refs rather than the boys club of has been players and media-friendly managers.

When the big 4 or 5 are playing on Sunday/Monday you realise how crap the PL actually is in terms of the other teams on show now.

        Norwich v Hull??

        Fulham v Cardiff

        Palace v Sunderland

Anyone v Stoke for example !!!!!

Now we aren’t in the PL I’m really not arsed about MOTD.

I like Neville and Carragher on Monday nights. They say what they think and don’t shy away from issues. When did that last happen on MOTD?

Hanson with his “rank bad defending” and Shearer stating the bleeding obvious is all you get !!!!

Monday Night Footie also gave us the priceless comment from Carra ” No-one grows up wanting to be a Gary Neville”. !!!!! :P

Match of the Day pundits last night were Mark Lawrenson and Danny Murphy. Neither was inspiring. However, Murphy did confirm that there was indeed contact between Suarez and Guzan.

I didn’t stay up for the Football League show.
