“But there were many good aspects to our game. In terms of passing, possession and corners away from home it was very good.”
Passing that went no where and corners that never made it past the first man?16 March 2010 at 12:24 pm #26634I have said it before, it takes skill to continually hit the first man on set pieces. !!
16 March 2010 at 1:29 pm #26639Then whoever took all the corners in the promotion season under Larry Lloyd must have been the most skilful player in the clubs history – the number of goals scored from near post flick-ons was phenominal.

We got a ponful from that.

We could do with him giving Hugo a few tips on how to take a penalty. Did he ever miss one?16 March 2010 at 2:09 pm #26649I did like the quote from Bob about us not receiving a penalty in the first 5 minuts against Bolton turning the game. Rodders would have fluffed it anyway !!!

When N’Zogbia went through on Saturday, early on, then fired a pea-rolelr at Jaaskalainen, I said to my ‘arl fella “Andy Liddell would have finished that. I’d have loved him to have been a bit younger and had him in the Premiership, because he was good enough”.
That throw in routine was a classic. Didn’t McCulloch do it once or twice as well? (Both would WALK into this current side, as well)

if his name had been liddelleire and was black from senegal or ivory coast he would have played regular premiership football, and i dont mean that in any racist way, over the last 20 years top clubs have taken less and less chances on british players and gambled billions on african nomarks.
i also ask you john why has gomez or scotland managed premiership minutes when neither are in the same league as liddell was?
and i mean in skill, energy and goal scoring ability he leaves both of them in his distant wake.17 March 2010 at 1:53 am #26692Didn’t Lidds play for Barnsley in the PL?
