I have a vague memory of us appearing on “The Big Match” in the early 80’s playing Bury at Springfield. Think we won and I’m pretty sure Tommy Gore scored one of them. Just wondered if anybody had a copy of this? I’ve trawled through YouTube with no luck!
That was the match when Elton *****g Welsby introduced the game with something like ….

I have an old copy that i bought from the old Smiths bookshop years ago .It has the Bury,Walsall (away),The great Everton cup tie from january 1980 (this was as big a game as we have ever had before or since believe me!) and the Mansfield 1982 promotion game as well.Im sure there is also a game from the first season in division 3 as well as other clips from the era.
I actually got on the telly at the Bury game and i also appear just before the brilliant pitch invasion against mansfield.The Bury game attracted a fair crowd and Latics won the game 2-1 and it was the first home game ever televised i think.I remember the outburst from that Elton blbloke but we dont seem to see him on the telly anymore do we?
I will try and convert this to the net if i can but you have to remember us mid forty somethings aint the best with the technology so it may take a while!
Brilliant! If you could upload it that would be fantastic – me and a mate are shown at some point during the game as well which is the main reason for wanting to see it! The Everton game would be interesting to see as well – I went to that but only have vague memories as I was a ten year old. Listening to older relatives it sounds like we took 20,000 to Goodison!
i remember the everton game very well like walking down bullens road and getting a slap :(Snap ! They got you as well !
Remember also the Northwich Victoria Cup game (1st game – abandoned) one round earlier.

yes remember that as well, the copper walked past me, was only young i was really shocked, also the stockport fans who were in our end
