While it is blindingly obvious to us fans that we need striking reinforcements, it looks as though our hands are going to be tied firmly behind our backs on this one.
It doesn’t look like Ali is going to sign and with Cleverley still on our books as our only other loan signing we can only look for free transfers which is probably why we are taking a look at this Guinean.
Now, if we have decided we ain’t gonna sell N’nnnnnnnnZogbia in this window then Bob needs to make a serious decision. He can’t get rid of our player of the season in Ali, therefore he may need to sacrifice Cleverley to create some room in the squad for a half decent striker on loan.
Controversial I know, but is it a risk worth taking? With Moses and N’Zog we would have two very good wingers and McCarthy is shortly coming back into the centre of midfield.
Even if we got a decent striker in who scored 5 or 6 goals for us between now and the end of the season (a strike rate of one in three which is probably the only player we would be able to afford) it could make the difference between us staying up and going down.
Or…….this Guinean guy might be half decent and we stick with Cleverley playing him just in behind Rodders.
Any thoughts?

25 January 2011 at 4:23 pm #56748Are you sure that we’re only allowed 2 loan signings in the squad and that its not just 2 loan signings from other premier league/english clubs??
I only ask coz the only potential signing that I’ve heard either Bobby or Whelan talk about is a “foreign striker on loan”.
I assume (stupidly perhaps) that the club has done its homework & so either a) Al Habsi or Cleverley are to join permanently b) that we can have another loan signing or c) one of Al Habsi or Cleverley is going back25 January 2011 at 4:46 pm #56753Hope this helps, doesn’t say anything about loans from overseas not counting. This is from the Premier League’s website…….

He wants to go to La Liga because they speak Spanish. If he comes here he can speak Spanish all day long!
