I was talking to my buddy at work who is also a Tics season ticket holder and we were both of the opinion that we didn’t want the promoted teams early doors. As we found with Blackpool last season they started off great then ran out of steam. All 3 teams will be on a massive high and there fans will be well up for the games which IMO makes it a really difficult start for us.
But if as Bob says we will move on the next level they are games we have to win. Also a trip to the Liberty Stadium in our first away game with hopefully a sell out to beat the Taff’s is just what the doctor ordered.
17 June 2011 at 4:27 pm #67873Am I being paranoid or is this more than just a coincidence? Did the Prem bigwigs looked at our result against Blackpool last season and deliberately arrange for us to play the 3 promoted teams in the hope that we will get off to a really disastrous start?
17 June 2011 at 4:39 pm #678753 games on a row in which we have a realistic chance of taking points, not sure what more we could have asked for really

Don’t think that’ll happen again.
For one thing they’re not even in the Premier League anymore.

Don’t think it was anything to do with Blackpool, personally. We were just abject from start to finish that day.17 June 2011 at 6:16 pm #67886Hopefully they’ll be brimming with confidence about taking on one of the lesser teams in the Prem. If we can repeat our post-Christmas form we can turn them over and get a good start to the season.
17 June 2011 at 8:01 pm #67892I would have put money on us having Swansea first game. The Premier League “computer” (whoever he is!) is having a laugh.

Next thing will be complaints from national lottery ticket holders because ‘Machine B’ has drawn the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 49….it is the ‘luck of the draw’.
The bottom line is – in order to remain in the Premiership we need to beat the other teams; it doesn’t matter in which order we play them.
As for me………….I’m secretly ‘cock-a-hoop’ at the prospect of these opening games.
Roll on the 16th. ;)
17 June 2011 at 9:16 pm #67898we played reading in the second game a few years ago and we won 1-0
17 June 2011 at 10:04 pm #67899Ok, so we play the 3 newly promoted teams first, who according to some on here will be really “up for it”. Any prem team not “up for it” on the first day, shouldn’t be there. Bring it on I say!

Yes, I won’t forget the Blackpool game in a hurry, but I do think with these 3 up first we can get of to decent start.
