As I was unable to go to the game as i’m in belamedana, I would love feedback on today’s game. How did we play, how did the new players fit in & so on & so on.
4 August 2018 at 10:33 pm #170804Valencia for me! I would appreciate too
4 August 2018 at 10:50 pm #170805No loyalty you two you’ll get nothing from me but great atmosphere at times.
4 August 2018 at 10:55 pm #170806Lots of reasons to be optimistic. For his first professional game Reece James was fearless and settled well despite the odd mishit pass, Kipre was a revelation and like a rock at the back, Robinson looked quick on the break, set up the first goal and has bags of potential whilst Gibson controlled the midfield, played some great balls, broke up play and made a terrific goal saving block in the second half. Jacobs was MOTM, scored two good goals, hit the bar with a cracking effort and got an assist for the third and you couldn’t say any of the players didn’t play well. All round a great game and thought the scoreline flattered the opposition given the chances we created. If we keep that level this season should be a cracker.
4 August 2018 at 11:08 pm #170808Fantastic game today and every man played well. Scored 3, had one disallowed and hit crossbar twice. We looked so good going forward and broke with pace.
All new signings fitted in perfectly and Cook is going to have some tough decisions to make once injured players come back.
Lad from Everton (robinson) is one to watch.4 August 2018 at 11:13 pm #170809I’ll give in, all newcomers outstanding I’ve not got a clue how Bryne gets his spot back even Kone at the back played really well so Burn can have a rest Gibson was brilliant and I bet Power was gutted at being benched but good coaching by the gaffer good decision, James and Massey combined brilliantly and Massey well played my son, Jacobs last time in the Championship was out of his depth not this time on that showing, Grigg umm looked of pace but did his bit, Powell I’ve never seen him run so much and played well I hope it wasn’t his swan song Morsey first half was over shadowed by Gibbo but came into it the last 20 minutes overall you missed a great game bring on Villa.

6 August 2018 at 2:47 am #170835Massey was man of the match for me yesterday.
His work off the ball is second to none. Very underrated in my opinion
6 August 2018 at 11:13 am #170836Runcorn & DNR …. I’m really sorry to say but you missed a. the best game of the season, and b. the best game we’ve played in the Championship, for ages. You also missed seeing the only club ever to move from bottom to 2nd in 1 game, and deservedly so. We were last night in position for auto promotion. That is how good it was.
There wasn’t a stand out M o M; there were 11 of them. It was a real team effort. The litmus test for me is if you are neutral how would you feel at the final whistle. If it were me, and I’m pretty objective and neutral … I’d be going home thinking ‘great game, money well spent’.
Often when we win the ‘nay-sayers’ don’t give us credit but say the oppo were rubbish. Actually Sheffield were pretty good. We were just better.
Callum showed his dancing and dinking skills when he came on. Powell looked as if he could be bothered but needed several injury breaks. He seems to get terribly injured when he and the ball make contact. The new boys …. Kipre-Kone, Robinson who can’t spell his first name but runs faster than a retriever and Gibson were brilliant. Jacobs played one of his best games ever. So good in fact I have suggested to Sharpie he needs to be sold. Number 11 was stand out and Reece James has been having lessons from Jordi Gomez in sublime passes. I could go on. Vaughanie when he came on tore their defence apart. He’s up for everything. Keener than a jack russell looking for a ferret.
We scored and the music came on ….. it was great. Like old times. What’s not to like!!?? Except no one in the east stand heard it so we don’t really know if it was on.
Anyway, have you got the message. A great game. A belting atmosphere helped hugely by the Sheffield crowd who made the Cop sound like a Sunday morning service at the local gospel church. Added to all that was a delicious liquid lunch at the WC. (Wigan Central).
6 August 2018 at 12:15 pm #170837Good game of football. Better performance.
Can we stop the music nonsense when we score? Luckily it was drowned out in the east
6 August 2018 at 1:12 pm #170838My consolation was that the science museum, the aquarium and the paella in Valencia were excellent…..
6 August 2018 at 1:14 pm #170839Can we stop the music nonsense when we score?I agree. It’s cheesy and naff and stifles the natural response to a goal. Do you really have to be prompted to celebrate a goal?
“But the kids like it”. Kids like lots of things that they eventually grow out of. This is one of them. Stop it.6 August 2018 at 2:04 pm #170841My consolation was that the science museum, the aquarium and the paella in Valencia were excellent…..Fantastic City apart from getting pick pocketed on the way to the museum/aquarium on the bus. Police were a disgrace.
So watch your belongings and enjoy it.

“But the kids like it”. Kids like lots of things that they eventually grow out of. This is one of them. Stop it.[/quote]Yeah you right on all of those … it’s ‘a marmite’. It’s cheesy, it’s naff and that is why it is so good. Loadsa people love Blackpool, Benidorm, and many other things that are cheesy and naff. The kids love it, and there is hopefully a kid in all of us still. It’s such a shame when their exuberance gets trained out of them.
Lots of us can still have a natural response to scoring as well.
Some love it; some loathe it. Guess where I lie on the spectrum. A self confessed cheesy naff kid. Lets compromise ….. music for alternate goals or alternate games????
