My brain and body are mush today.

After the highest point of my Wigan Athletic supporting life on Saturday sadly last night the reality came crashing down that we will be plying our trade in the Championship next season.

This is a sentiment I am sure will be felt by most of us today but it seems that lady luck had one more kick in the balls planned – just for me.

I woke up on cup final day about 7:30am and went for my morning ritual i.e. sitting on the bog and pottering about on my phone.

Without hesitation I posted up my dream from that night on to facebook in the hope that somehow it would secure us the win that day.

Well it did. I had dreamt that we would win the cup that day 1-0 and then get beat 4-1 off Arsenal.

    Did I put a bet on it ? Did I f**k!!!!

I never bet against Latics, no matter what.

First text I got last night was off my Brother saying after the first score come in he put £20 on Arsenal 4-1 win and landed £320.00

I have been told if I had put £20 on the dream as a double I would have landed £6600.00.

Needless to say if I dream up the lottery numbers they wont be going on frigging facebook!

Part of me sad to be leaving prem but the biggest part thinks f*** it what a way to go!!!!!. Wasn’t lost last night it was lost way before that but nows not the time for post mortems. Still got a great day Sunday and a chance to thank ,applaude and give a rousing salute and send off to the players/ manager who may or may not be with us next season. I for one will be renewing my 3 season tickets and hope that Dave Whelan can somehow persuade Robbie and our key players to stay and plot our prem return and European escapades.

I’ve had far far worse days in my life.

        It’s only football.

Not half as arsed about getting relegated as losing out on over 6K

I am actually really optimistic and looking forward to the future of Wigan Athletic.

        • We are financially secure
        • The development of the training complex is in motion and as such adds to the long term security of the club in terms of being to develop playing staff from the youth team
        • Even if a large portion of players leave we still have the biggest amount of young upcoming players the club has ever seen in my time who will surely relish an opportunity to play in the Championship next season e.g. Nicholls, Golobart, Fyvie & Dicko + Mcmanaman!!

First of all I am looking forward to a break from football and then a break from Premier League football ( We will of course bounce back at first time of asking)

I am sick to death of arguing with United fans, City fans and most importantly our own fans.

I am sure whatever changes that happen in regards to coaching and playing staff will be in continuation of the brilliant work done over the past 20 years.

Lets not forget (should the worst happen re Roberto) Whelan has a good record in picking managers for us.

Sin Miedo my amigos and see you in August!

Tbh, I had enough of our annual relegation battles. Year after year of stress was getting the better of me.

The feeling I have now is only positive. We can move on, dust ourselves down and look forward to some great local derbies coming up.

If we can keep most of our better players and have less injuries (please)then we can bounce back.
I’d like a play off final win at wembley please, cos Saturday was just fantastic :cheer:

I can honestly say I cant wait for the new season to start, really looking forward to it not felt like this over the last couple of seasons. The prem became like a survival treadmill, next season will be different and a lot of our younger fans will see us being able to compete with the best in the Championship, Depressed, no way, we won the FA cup don’t you know.

Couldn’t agree more. Bit down today but what a day on Saturday ! Would not swap with prem survival. How many supporters of other teams have or will ever experience the ecstasy of wining the FA Cup in the 90th minute against all odds? Looking forward to a stress free summer watching some cricket. Batteries recharged for August. I guess though next season depends on how much DW decides to invest (ie keeping players) to go straight back?

For me, I had predicted that the congestion would do us in and then the Swansea game when James MacArthur (and by no means do i blame him) missed the simple side foot into the net I said that would be the moment that sent us down.

However, the FA cup was brilliant and we all know how good we can play. I expect all the out of contratc players to go wit the possible exception of Boyce (who could do another year in the Championship). I hope we can keep Ramis (as Alcaraz is at the end of his contract). I expect that MacCarthy will go and i hope (but don’t expect to keep him) Maloney stays but there are some positives.

It will be good to win more games.

players like Golobart, Lee Nichols, Fyvie, Redmond, Mustoe, etc will start to get first team experience. Espinoza is looking better and will benefit from a year in the championship. Watson and Gomez are very good at Championship level. We need to keep callum (and he will benefit from that) and if Kone leaves we need a new stiker. Hopefully JB stays also

Just remember when we played championship sides this year (league and FA cups) with our second teams we were head and shoulders better. Bring it on.

I for one will be celebrating our success.

the sadness is that we could all see the project was working and it was injuries to Alcaraz and Ramis – togther (at the end with Figgy and jean) that was the reason we went down.

Im looking forward to next season already. The past couple of years have seemed like a chore to go – even though i will always go. The championship i know, will definitely renew my passion. again.

Saturday was the best day of my life, while yesterday was just another day. Disappointing, yes, but that’s about it. I’ve had far, far, far worse days than yesterday, but none better than Saturday. Wigan Athletic – FA Cup winners. Does that not bring a shiver down your spine?
