When we beat Burnley, I thought that was it. But although being a big factor, decided nothing.
I think the Portsmouth game will be huge and not just because of the points as they are still available.
If we lose to Portsmouth and put up a poor show, the team and may be for the first time the manager, we know will face a chorus of abuse.
We need to win this game to avoid this.6 April 2010 at 3:35 pm #28783When we beat Burnley, I thought that was it. But although being a big factor, decided nothing.

We need to win this game to avoid this.two hopes – bob and none.
Portsmouth to win it 2-0, with a hard fought pride filled performance, while the rabbit in the headlights martinez pretends he is concerned on the touchline.
Then you will all be on here, saying, 4 games left, its still in our hands etc etc etc.
We will be the next Bradford City under Martinez’s guidance. Dont sack him now, at final whistle at Chelsea tell him to make his own way home.

How confident are you that Portsmouth will beat us ? Would you like a bet with me or shall we both offer a forefit of the other persons choice ?
6 April 2010 at 8:47 pm #28815We WILL beat Pompey.
They are already short of numbers due to injuries and suspensions , and their season should end at the weekend’s cup semi. After their Wembley day out , I also doubt too many of their fans will fancy Wigan on a Wednesday night.
Added to that , whatever you may think about our away form , and I agree it is dire , at home we’re not actually that bad.
We beat Liverpool because we simply wanted it more than them. Next Wednesday we WILL be up for it more than an already relegated & I suspect , semi final losing Portsmouth. :D

may as well curl up and die, dont bother going the game pal, dont look at the result and dont comment on the game afterwards.

You’re spot on there, our home form is good and if you look at our home form against teams in the lower half of the table it’s very good. (I’ve got a fancy spreadsheet). That’s why I think we’ll get six points at home.

7 April 2010 at 11:14 am #28884The bookies rarely get it wrong, we are 5-1 to go down. So all those negative people who think we are doomed, go make a fortune on it.
