Never heard that, but I believe that the paper wanted a joint team photo of our Freight Rover Winning team, and the Wigan RL Challenge Cup team.
Doris vetoed it.
You know something? A lot of people will have thought “Oh, let it go now. All that happened years ago”.
But when I think about his comments more and more, in that infamous interview, I mean the “They probably took ten, maybe fifteen thousand. (to Wembley for the Freight Rover Match) But when WE went we took FORTY thousand people. It’s a tradition, it’s a day out. And yes, we’d love to go again”.
Note the emphasis on “We”. He considered us sh*t on his shoe, and make no mistake.
Now he is sticking a finger in our pie. It’s on a par with a Nazi war-criminal fugitive now announcing that Judaism is good, and that all that happened “Is in the past, now”. Well, ok, not quite. But you see what I mean.
I for one, hope the Rugby keep winning. Perhaps he’ll go slithering back over to his ‘true love’, if he considers them ‘a winning team’?
