Such a lot of it but such a shame that football doesn’t benefit at all from it apart from players that is.
Every year the at the Championship Play Offs we here this match is worth 50 or 60 million a year to the winners. You would think that after 7 seasons of this Latics would be rolling in cash despite the small fan base.
But no that money is still not enough due to the greed of these so called superstars and we have to sell.
Come on football limit salaries now and stop this greed killing our game.
Seriously a salary cap of 20 grand a month is adequate and bollocks to if we lose half the parasites who are bleeding the game dry. 20 grand a month is a fortune and still far too much.23 January 2012 at 7:59 pm #79238Such a lot of it but such a shame that football doesn’t benefit at all from it apart from players that is.

Some players generate millions for clubs, who should benefit from that. If players dont get this money, do you think club owners will pass this onto fans?

Coco? Ronald McDonald? Can we please have a thread that doesn’t turn into a pro-anti Martinez slanging match yet again?

Seriously a salary cap of 20 grand a month is adequate and bollocks to if we lose half the parasites who are bleeding the game dry. 20 grand a month is a fortune and still far too much. When they talk about £50m or £60m it’s not per season. They are talking about a guaranteed income of around £30m-£40m for being in the Premier League, plus £28-ish as a parachute payment when they leave it.
Anyway, that’s me being pedantic, because yes, £30m-£40m should be ample to keep a football club going.
The problem is, if you put a salary cap in place you’d have to do it worldwide, because if there’s a salary cap here and none in, for instance, Spain, all the best players would be on first flight over there.
If that happens, you dilute the quality of the Premier League, and the TV companies would be bidding less – therefore even though clubs have cut their wage bills, they also receive less for being in the league and you’re back to square one again.
But you can’t call footballers greedy just because someone is willing to pay them millions of pounds to play. Would not accept it if someone offered you a couple of million a year to do your job?

25 January 2012 at 2:13 am #79411you only like discussions on this board when people agree with you like a couple more on this site i could mention ;)Au contraire my brainless friend. I like a discussion best when it’s with someone who can hold their own in an argument.
I’m bored with the pro-anti Martinez debate because it’s all opinionated and there’s no answer to it.
So explain, why am I a martyr? Do you know what a martyr is?
