What a journey!16 May 2010 at 12:37 am #33547Had a quick look, Jrfatfan.
That ‘SOS’ song reminded me of THE JAM’s ‘Going Underground’, a bit.
I thought your lad (Gaz?) was in Silverstone? What happened there then?

He is still with Siverstone and doing ok with them. They did a wedding at Ashfield house in Standish last night and 100 mods turned up on their lambarettas. Like you they are doing the full disco and karaoke thing as well as live music and its getting them bigger gigs and better money.
This Relays thing croped up cos Adam the singer and song writer, had a few new songs that he wanted to record. He knew our Gaz from the time they were in Sound on the Station together a few years back, so asked him to join them in the studio and out popped the 3 songs that they have put on their Myspace page. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!17 May 2010 at 1:22 am #33718Not so goodBut good enough to beat over 60 other wigan bands and get picked to do the haigh Fest.
It wouldn’t do for everyone to like the same type of music.
There are a few heavy metal bands on at the fest this year and I will make sure I am in the beer tent with my ear plugs in when they are on.From Matlock to ManU

the song ” Stealing the words” was the best song played by any band today, by a country mile.

A bit bias me thinks.
6 July 2010 at 12:23 am #39178Not really, I’ve been in the music scene myself for many years mainly as a solo artist. I am the first to have a go at the lads if they produce anything that I think is shyte and tell them so.
One… you could hear the words being sung and two….there was a decent melody line to their songs.
Many of the bands just banged out a load of grunge, bashing about on their instruments for 3 or 4 minutes. I found their songs totally pointless and actually hurtful to the ear.Like I said it wouldn’t do for us all to like the same stuff.

What a journey!6 July 2010 at 1:20 pm #39206This is a rare post for me, these days, but I always believe in giving credit where credit is due. From what I have heard of the band, Jrfatfan is not biased at all.
I just listened to that song, Jrfatfan, and whilst it is clearly original material, I could hear elements in it that reminded me of ‘The Police’, in the early 80’s. I liked it.
I don’t know why people have to be jealous and try and knock it. If, as you say, they performed with clarity, when the other bands were relying on slashing guitars, etc…..well, no wonder they came out on top.
Nice one.
6 July 2010 at 2:31 pm #39216Not my bag but I am all for original material so they get the thumbs up from me. Have they got a label ? I know someone who might be able to help them out !

They are just so bad!
8 July 2010 at 1:33 am #39411For what it’s worth, I think their songs are really good. I couldn’t nail exactly who they sound like but The Sparks reminds me of Maximo Park and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
James C is, of course and as usual, talking out of his r se
