With Forest, Burton and Bristol all on 41 points, we’ve got to reckon on them getting a point a game average to get to 49. Leaves the safety line at 50.
If the safety line is any less than 50 we are incredibly lucky.
16 points from 8 games. It’s possible…on paper.
On current form we will be lucky to get 7 points from the last 8 games, but we are the Latics. We defy the rule book…we’ve done the impossible an impossible number of times.
Never give up, never give in. One of those 3 teams will have a meltdown and 4 wins keep will keep us up.That bottle of shiraz was nice tonight… :(
25 March 2017 at 3:02 am #157243Just one bottle of shiraz was it Leyland
On paper possible yes, but…… We have to play 4 of the top 5, 3 away! As loyal as i’d like to be, the picture doesn’t look good so i’m fully expecting us to go down. On current form, & with my blue tints on, i can only see us getting 9 points. Which is nowhere near enough.
If we are lucky enough to come back up next season, maybe Sharpy won’t be as naive and not get too giddy on deadline transfer day.

Nice thoughts Leyland Mon but between Gary and Yootha they have finished our season. It’s over and from next week the side should only have players playing who may be here next season.
25 March 2017 at 3:25 am #157246Just trying to stay positive chaps, hard as it is.
Reality is we’re unlikley to get to 41 points on current form, let alone 50.

Yes, but for the top teams it could be squeaky bum time; then we’ve got to play without fear and try to take advantage of their nerves. We have nowt to lose !
26 March 2017 at 3:04 am #157262Anything is possible lhl.. let’s hope the team have spent this international break practicing getting the ball forward quicker to striker/s and that old art of shooting.. Newcastle do seem to wobble at home on occasions, but I’m just being silly now thinking we could?
26 March 2017 at 4:09 am #157263The team will have spent the international break doing exactly what’s in the tin. Having a break.

When a team is relegated it begins to play more freely, without fear & plays as if it actually enjoys its football. Our approach therefore in these remaining games should be one of a team that is already down. Simply play as though there is nowt to lose & just go for it. As you say lostock, the top teams will start having squeaky bums & the pressure is on them. Many twists & turns between now & end of season.
26 March 2017 at 2:57 pm #157276But how many times have we been saying”go for it”? I’ll take relegation now if we have a real attempt and show that next season we have something to look forward to. Shackles off GB show us what you and the lads can really do. YAMS.
26 March 2017 at 5:26 pm #157278We’re under less pressure than the sides at the top. Away from home, probably down, expected to lose. If we go to these places and frustrate early on then the crowd will turn, especially the geordies.
27 March 2017 at 1:07 am #157287Just one little problem you have overlooked……..
WE ARE SHIT.

At home we have bottom of league, and two from bottom half. This is the key, we need to do something we have not done all season, make DW a fortress.
Realistically you are looking for us to win 3 and draw one in the home games. Away you are looking at trying to get 5 or 6 points from somewhere.
And like I said, everything I have just written, we haven’t managed to do yet this season and can’t see how they are going to start now. Our chance was the 4 home games where we should have taken between 7 and 9 points, we got 2. We also needed to beat Blackburn….. look where we’d have been with 10-12 points out of those games…. when added to the great 6 points we got from the midlands.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
27 March 2017 at 5:12 pm #157295Fair to say jayt the midlands have been good to us this season. Five of our nine wins this season have come against midland teams. Pitty we aint got anymore to play.
If a lift in players spirits was going to happen it would have been against Villa, but it didn’t. Low morale, low confidence = poor looking players. We’re doomed…
27 March 2017 at 8:40 pm #157297Well put truelatic4eva…..absolutely bang on.Pile of crap all season in a league where mid table position was a fair expectation. Who apart from the truly blind can see this team scoring again let alone gaining any more points ???…Shit managers, shit tactics and dog-doo en-masse signings in January.
1 April 2017 at 3:47 am #157413Never give in, never give up.
That’s what Barrow has to instill into the chaps tomorrow.
We’re not relegated (yet…)
The 3 teams on 41 are all fighting with Blackburn to avoid being 22nd. One of them could lose their nerve and lose 7 out of 8 or worse ;)
Football’s a funny game…If and it’s a giant IFFF, we can avoid defeat tomorrow, then nick a last minute winner at Ipswich, then beat Rotherham..well the panic will set in at Forest, Burton etc.
On the other hand….I’ll get back to my rather smooth glass of Dalwhinnie I bought in Glasgow on Monday :woohoo: :woohoo:
