Regarding certain posters on this forum, I think the sensible posters should do something about it.
I know I encourage them sometimes, by rising to their drivel and sinking to their level, but I think it’s time to sort it out.
What I suggest is that when they post some utter bollocks on a thread, we should treat that thread as closed, just don’t post on it again, then when the board is full of hijacked threads which have been ruined by the morons, admin may start to dish out some holidays.
I expect one if them to be along on this thread shortly, but as far as I’m concerned they will not be responded to anymore, it’s ridiculous now.
I agree this is the correct route. Ignoring anything you think unreasonable is preferable to rising to the bait.
Moderators are loathe to hand out bans just because someone is talking rubbish – if we did that there would be no-one left :cheer:
But if anyone appears to be deliberately winding up, provoking, going off-topic, then I am quite sure bans will follow.
A little banter never hurt anyone.
The bans should be saved for people who deserve it e.g. racist, abusive or illegal content etc.
If someone is becoming particularly and intentionally disruptive i.e. ruining threads – then fair enough.
But don’t shoot the lad for being stupid & annoying

I would call it fighting fire with fire.
While you dont deserve a ban for coming on here casting your multi net out of whatever sad need you do it to fulfill neither do the people giving you back as good as you get you poor excuse of a wind up.
None the less the peace must be kept and it is down to Garswood and the other mods to decide when lines have been crossed.
I dont think any have yet but if your still carrying on like this in the near future it might get a bit tiresome and disruptive to the actual football discussions.

I personally wouldn’t take it to heart but its hard to see over a forum if a nerve has been hit for whatever reason?

I don’t agree to banning everyone for sometimes going a little too far. I think that once you have banned all the people you don’t like, or banned anyone who says something you don’t like you will only have half the board left. Then do you revise your rules again, and ban people who for example question team selection, then when they are gone, ban everyone who does not post that everything is super 4 times a day?
I’m afraid the only people who have made any ‘success’ of banning dissenters are middle eastern countries like Iran, and other places like china. And it ain’t doing them any good nowadays.
Things on here should be treated on a post by post basis, if someone calls me a muppet cos I don’t think Ben Watson is that good for us in the premier league, I don’t cry and want them banned. The point if a board is for discussion, not simple praise for the club.
As someone who once wanted rid of bobby last season, I was made to look a bit foolish when he kept us up. I was wrong about him, and some of the posts last season, particularly with griff and his mates where we had a major difference of opinion where good Craic. Banning everyone who does not agree with you is not the answer, the answer is convincing them if your argument, and having the piss taken along the way is half the fun and reason we come back.
After all, every government in the world banned crime, and that worked didn’t it.
I think that’s what I said.
We have no desire to issue any bans, never mind “banning everyone for sometimes going a little too far” – although remember that bans can be for, say, 24 hours to get things cooled down. We’re not talking banning from the board completely. That’s reserved mainly for spammers.
But anyone who disrupts the flow of the board, discredits the board, or “spoils it” for the majority should look at what they are hoping to achieve. It isn’t a matter of content. All opinions are welcome. It’s about maintaining the (and I’m sorry to use the word that was used earlier today and criticised, but it is aposite) dynamic of the board.
I know a significant number of internet-using Latics’ supporters who when I ask “do you look at Cockney Latic” respond “No – load of rubbish talked on there”. And they don’t mean the opinions about team performance.
The best option for all is to ignore what you think should be ignored rather than rising to it.
I should however also point out that this is not just about one poster – it is a general thought. Bans however are a last resort, and are unlikely to happen. I hope.

Agreed, and I too am as guilty as anyone of encouraging these idiots. Henceforth, they will be ignored, unless they have something worthwhile to contribute, though I won’t be holding my breath on that front.
So, Papa, Wiganmon, Sudworth… you can save your dull, stalking energies for elsewhere.

It just made me shake my head at the thought that he expected me to respond, given what had gone before. I suppose that’s what you found funny too, the irony of it. Many people on here don’t get irony.
