3 July 2010 at 8:36 pm #39002Evening stalker!
Not tonight I wont. The game kicks off tomorrow evening.
Fair play to those who travel to the south of France for 80 minutes of sport, the week after a 3000 took a trip to South West London.
Out of interest, when was the last time the latics took 3000 fans to an away game?

3000
From your match report
Must admit I was amazed with the Wigan following. I thought with Catalans next week that many wouldn’t bother this week but we easily had 2,000 down there. Excellent effort, and with Warrington losing at home to Leeds our four point lead at the top of the table is re-established. Let’s hope we can win again in France next Sunday Night!
3 July 2010 at 9:49 pm #39010One person’s opinion. Mine was that more than half the 5000 crowd was made up from North of Watford Gap!
Now back to my question….
3 July 2010 at 10:00 pm #39012Anonymous
Whats half of 5500 in the capital of England that has a population of 10 million good ratio Mutts dont you think
3 July 2010 at 10:04 pm #39013More avoidance tactics I see.

4 July 2010 at 6:43 am #39033you have not answered my question? why have sunderland spent over 62 million in the last 3 seasons and achieved jack sh1t?. how can you even bring up bath, nuneaton latics fans when your a w@nkstaines fan who supposedly
follows Sunderland? you TOE RAG :lol:4 July 2010 at 11:23 am #39034Answer: Because the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd & Chelsea have spent more and had a better foundation. Spending £62 million from scratch gets you a bottom-half side.
Now back to my question….when did you last take 3,000 fans to an away game?
Over to you bobby boy….
4 July 2010 at 6:34 pm #39044Now back to my question….when did you last take 3,000 fans to an away game?Obviously it’s been quite a while.
That said, most Latics away games aren’t either within a £3.20 bus ride from home or can be combined with a summer holiday which is probably how most of your 3000 (yeah, right) treat the French trip.
5 July 2010 at 2:43 am #39091Horwich is.
Manchester (x2) is.
Liverpool (x2) is.
Blackburn & Burnley arent that expensive to get to.
Good turnout and good result.
Respect to all those loyal fans.

5 July 2010 at 12:52 pm #39103I will answer your question mutty, even though you are comparing apples with eggs again
I can safely say that when tickets were affordable and Latics were top of the league ( as the rugby are now ) we regularly took 3,000 away from home. The likes of Crewe, Oldham, Huddersfield, Stockport, Port Vale etc in League 2 saw travelling supports of between 2-4,000 in our promotion season. Similarly big games in the Championship, Leeds, Leicester, Wolves, Rotherham all saw massive travelling support from Wigan.
The last time Latics probably took 3,000 away in this division was Sheffield United, a game which meant something although there were 2,500 at Bolton this season, indeed the away end looked completely full with people standing in the aisles suggesting Latics had took the full allocation available to them.
As this game was one of the few games which was a) affordable ( and this is the key to it I think you’ll find ) and b) local, more fans will travel and were financially capable of attending. Blackburn & Burnley were local too but they were charging £39 & £36 respectively ( for one ticket ) I know you don’t live in Wigan, lik a lot of rugby fans you seem to live in a middle class, more propserous area but I do live in Wigan and I can tell you that’s a fair old chunk of money for one to pay and probably an average week’s wage for a family of four so I do not blame our fans one bit for paying such extortionate prices.
So that’s your question answered mutty. Now try answering this one honestly – how many fans would Wigan Warriors take to London if they had to go there half a dozen times a season paying anything from £35 to £48 a ticket ( with no freebies for kids ) when it’s on in every pub for free and the team had been hanging about in the relegation zone all season, indeed for several years?
