Larry Lloyds first game in shorts that wouldn’t fit his massive backside and his rather colourful language booming out.

I remember beating Wolves 1-0 in the League. Was a much needed 3 poitns at the time, and it sparked our miraculous recovery to finish mid table. Buxton scored an 88th minute winner courtesy of a Max Power corner!

Wouldn’t say that if you saw me in person.

        Oh and reported.

            Uncanny isn’t it!!

Wolves away is one of my favourite away games so that probably helps :)

I have thought of one. After being promoted from div 3 there was a pitch invasion and everyone in the stadium pretty much gathered around the players tunnel. The pundit of the time for the North West was Elton Welsby and i believe he had been non too complimentary about the Latics and he appeared out of the tunnel whilst the joyous crowd was chanting for the players etc and this mon Welsby popped up arm aloft with a grin on his face like he was the Queen or something expecting some kind of heroes welcome i presume only to be greeted by thousands chanting ‘Welsby is a wanker’ his face soon dropped and he was never seen again.

He felt it necessary to apologise for having our promotion clinching game against Mansfield on ITVs Kick Off program. He said people had complained that they were showing a 4th division match as their featured game.[/quote]
He gatecrashed one of our office Christmas parties at The Midland in the early 90s.

Was chatting up one of the girls at the bar and tried to impress her by telling her he presented a football programme on TV – to which she replied ‘Are you Saint or Greavesy?’

            He didn’t stay long.

Darwen,Rossendale United and Accrington Stanley 1968 getting thrashed in the Lancashire Junior Cup.

The away teams dugout on the popular side.

Top of the table clashes against Stafford Rangers,Altrincham,Macclesfield Town and Boston united.

              Ian Gillibrand.

The five a side plastic pitch behind the townend terrace.

              ‘Jumping’ Jimmy.

The moment the net swelled and we knew that Little Wigan were in The Top Flight of English football. 3-1 and Reading couldn’t come back. Only capped when Ben Watson rose above the City defence and the net swelled and there was no way back for City. Spent most of those last few minutes in floods of tears.
No way back for Arsenal either as the net swelled at Highbury from Jason Roberts effort, runs very close to those as Latics had made their first major final.
Pretty Brilliant in The AWS final when the net swelled again giving Millwall no way back.
Hope we can give the Finneyites no way back on Saturday.

Don’t always agree with you, donny, but these are spot on my best memories in recent years.
I still have recorded that commentary from the Reading game. I was in prawn sandwich that day, and spent the night out in Wigan in a suit. Even managed to blag my way among the players in Walkabout.
The following day a big boss from London was visiting, and noticing my state asked if I was OK. I said I was, I had just been celebrating promotion.
“Oh, congratulations” she said. “Where are you going to be working?”
                  “Not me. My football team”
I don’t think she understood, to be honest.

I remember getting clicked in by a steward with a clicker with a capacity of something like 1000 or so..

After getting moved as a steward from the grass hill on the away end for telling Huddersfield fans to eff off, my mate got given that job.
He just made the clicker go to whatever number below 1200 he thought he’d be able to get away with coz he couldn’t be bothered counting who went in & out

It’s not ‘That’ long back and I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it but with North End due at ours on Saturday, I still have very fond memories of that 5-0 drubbing we handed out to them 12 years ago :) The last minute winner in the cup on their next visit wasn’t too shabby either! ;)
