Our 2 first games are Cambridge and Leyton Orient.
Cambridge beat Preston in a friendly a week ago and Orient beat Royal Antwerp last weekend as well. Ive thought all along Cambridge is a tough first game. They’ve got the promotion bounce about them.
Dreading this season now.
5 August 2026 at 4:18 pm #207393<!–more–>Yes but we gave Grimsby a game and held them to two nil, got an honourable draw at Southport, beat mighty Fylde and only lost one nil to Port Vale. Some pre season that.
What an absolute travesty of a preparation. It bloody stinks.
5 August 2026 at 4:20 pm #207394Sorry we only lost three one at home to Vale.
6 August 2026 at 4:25 pm #207403My expectations for this season are this:
Caldwell needs to perform miracles on his given budget then, make them hit the ground running no if buts when’s weres whys.
We’ve 2 out the 3 league games in August away. If we fail to get at least 6 points I can promise you this, looking at fixtures after them we’ll definitely struggle in September.
We have to get points but without a recognised striker proven last season up till Jan will repeat itself bigtime
Any other owner would have looked at Taylor and used Tickle & Bettoni money and made it happen, it’s a no brainer.
This seasonal rebuild is killing us and this season we might just pay the price.
I never thought I’d be saying this for a 3 year running,
If we stay up it’s a massive achievement
That’s were Danson with all his wealth has took us, scratching around near the bottom and hanging on for dear life

6 August 2026 at 6:11 pm #207406Its yet another almost brand new team – none of us will have seen most of these play before, and more worryingly, they will never have played together before, apart from in training and a few warm up games. IF theres some unknown quality in there that are surprises, and IF we can get a good run of form which we havent had for a long time, this season I would settle for mid table. IF we add one or two quality players before the deadline, I would be more comfortable, but as it is – am i excited – not really. Am i expecting entertaining football – not really, but I like many others will be there hoping that our fortunes will soon change to become the club that not that long ago, had a clear direction, team full of characters who you knew exactly what they could.. or couldnt deliver. This season yet again we need to re-learn the team, the individuals, and along the way hope that we have enough to stay up and provide some good football.. and that at least 4 other teams are weaker than us come end of season..
7 August 2026 at 7:15 am #207410I feel exactly the same. Agree with all you’ve said there.
I actually asked my lad last night “if you could get a refund now on your ST…would you?”
Straight away he said “No. But only because I’d have nothing to do on Saturday’s.”
I actually just look at it as something for us to do together. He turns 21 next April, so I am grasping it whilst I can! I’ve already said I want to do Leyton Orient away. But more for an overnight stay and a mooch, than anything. And I’ve never been on Notts County, and we fancy that trip as well.
But Ive no expectation at all. Just hope we get and GC can get us ticking.
