8 June 2010 at 11:53 pm #36416At least mean it if you aint bothered and dont start wearing your colours if we start doing well proffessing your undying love for the boys it pi$$es me off when you see everybody going mental when we win who normally wouldnt give a flyer about football. If you are a true football fan and never been to an England game all I can say is your missing out. I worship the national team and was an England member for a few years and cant wait to see the countrys finest just get behind the lads if your a football nut
I think there are some whoppers who follow England though, I went to the Portugal game in eindhoven for Euro 2000 and some of the pr1cks knocking around amsterdam were not for real. though 9 times out of 10 when they spoke they had cockney accents.

I’ll obviously support England in the World Cup, but there really are some society rejects who travel to watch England. Here’s a prime example……
I was in Berlin in 2008 for the Germany v England friendly, and was stood at a bar next to an England Fan. This is the genuine conversation had:
England Fan: Alright?
Me: Not bad.
England Fan: You off to the match tonight.
Me: Yes. You? (He was wearing an England shirt)
England Fan: I am. Not missed a game home or away for ten years.
Me: Very good.
England Fan: You from up north then?
Me: Yes, Wigan.
England Fan: So who’s your team?
Me: Wigan Athletic. Yours?
England Fan: Nottingham Forest.
Me: Ian Breckin still at the club?
England Fan: Who?
Me: He was your club captain.
England Fan: I don’t really watch Forest anymore, just England.
Me: Why?
England Fan: You get to watch better players with England.
Me: So who’s your all time greatest ever England player
England Fan: All time greatest ever….hmmmm…….I’d have to say Frank Lampard

Why not go mental. I admitt I really don’t care what happen’s.
But I will be wearing my colours and will ‘go mental’ if we win, as I want us to win (I wouldn’t be confessing my undying love for ‘the boys’ regardless of what happens)… It’s just that I really don’t care that much if we don’t…Would much prefer to watch the latics line up against any given team and win than watch England do that![/quote]So England winning the world cup would not be better than Wigan beating Bolton or anyone else
It is the biggest event in the football world and James winning it would mean everything to any true English man you nob.

Very good if true that (the last bit) Mr Walker… If I had a hat I would remove it in respect. It’s a shame there isn’t a suitable smilie to do so. Maybe Jrfatfan knows of one.
10 June 2010 at 7:09 pm #36791I remember meeting a Wigan fan at the England Denmark game 2002 in Japan. Vaugely remember he had something to do with a Latics Fanzine. !

100% true tickmon. Admittedly he was a bespectacled geek who probably weighed eight stone wet through, and had it been a big lad with an arm full of tattoos, I’m sure the conversation would have been more amicable on my part.

I did check to make sure you didn’t have a load of big mate lurking around first though. For the record, Terry is the best player ever to play for England, not Lampard.10 June 2010 at 8:22 pm #36814Admittedly he was a bespectacled geek who probably weighed eight stone wet through,

Lampard is rubbish for England, i’ve never saw him come up with a Man of the Match preformance -
