So, same as last season but with Kone instead of Di Santo?
I think Moses will be away before the next game and I think Di Santo will start again. I also cannot see Ramis being dropped as he’s obviously a good centre half as you don’t get a reputation in Spain without being half decent, and the only way he’s going to get used to the Premier League’s pace etc is by playing games.
I think it’s more than likely going to be the same starting eleven as Sunday’s game – give or take a replacement for Moses.
21 August 2012 at 2:37 pm #91846I’ll be very disappointed if Ramis is dropped.
I have high hopes for him and Kone this season.

Although he had a shocker he won’t learn unless given a run of games, That is our problem sometimes, It takes an age to bed players in. Playing him against Chelsea and leaving him out of the easier games is a little unfair and he probably thinks he is hard done by.
BTW, I would have Moses nowhere near the team, Just get rid. Take 7m if needs be. Arsenal fans think Miyachi is better than Walcott and i would have Walcott first on the team sheet if he was here.
21 August 2012 at 8:38 pm #91866Runcorn, how can you drop Ram is after one game the mind boggles. He looks a good player and will be one the better performers this season .
21 August 2012 at 11:39 pm #91873dropping ramis might knock his confidence a bit, play him and get saturday out of his system, i would play miyaichi and kone. whats up with boselli?
22 August 2012 at 12:41 am #91877If maloney is fit and Moses is still here then it’ll be the same starting eleven as Sunday.
And lets just nail all this Ramis bollox. He made two errors against Chelsea – first he got too tight on Hazard ( not necessarily a big deal especially as it was near the halfway line ) but he was then skinned by the sort of skill that would have left many higher profile centre backs for dead. The second was a mistimed tackle in the box – he’s not the first to do it and he won’t be the last.
He comes with a glowing reputation in Spain and maybe he needed a whole seven minutes to get used to a new league and new teammates.

Hallelujah, we have a voice of reason at last.
22 August 2012 at 1:18 am #91879many, many apologies. i hadn’t dropped ramis – i’d forgot about him to be honest. i agree i believe that he will become a good player & he learned a very quick, harsh lesson after sunday. after 4 – 5 games he will be brilliant.
22 August 2012 at 2:08 am #91884well said manny.
ramis had 84 decent minutes against the european champions. instead of focusing on ramis not being tight enough on hazard, i prefer to reflect on a brilliant piece of play by hazard, and an inch perfect pass which ivanovic scored from.
that just leaves the penalty..no excuses, clumsy challenge that he got punished for.
1 mistake in 90 mins?….
PLAY HIM!
22 August 2012 at 2:42 am #91885Kone to start in place of Santo- its a tough one but he has far too good a strike rate to leave on the bench!
If Moses is still here then i would play him because while i am certain that move is going to happen we should use him while he is still here.Other than that i would keep the team as it was on sunday and i am sure even with the Southampton media darling hype fest that will go on before the game we will get our first three points on saturday.

Agreed. Though would possibly start with Di Santo. H2 – Kone.
Lets stop p**ssing about and get some points on the board. All very well to let players play themselves in; but more important to get points on the board early doors. Don’t want to be playing catch up like last year.
The old addage – ‘why fix something that ain’t broken ? Give the guys that finished last season at best team in the Premiership bar only Man City (7-1-2) the chance to carry on the good work. They’ve earned it.
If Ramis does play, then better to take one of Caldwell / Alcaraz out (on current form I wouldn’t), and put Figeuroa back to left hand side, Beausejour in front, much improved balance and options going forward.
Note that Hughes down at QPR is already investing in 2 new defenders (Cavalho, Dawson) and goaldkeeper (Boruc) after Saturday disaster…
22 August 2012 at 4:25 pm #91898Agreed. Though would possibly start with Di Santo. H2 – KoneH2?
They might say that in Soccer Kick-Ball circles but it’s The 2nd Half in the UK man!
I bloody hate Americanisms.

Remember in the words of Bob its all about the performance not results at this stage of the season, take a leaf from his book and ignore the table :)

Totally agree. I hate it now that people say the two thousand eight, two thousand ten etc for the various years. Over there maybe but here it’s been two thousand AND eight. I never knew such a small word would wind me up so much.
