Just bought 2 extra tickets for tonights game for friends im trying to convert i adult and one junior.
      28 Adult 20 Junior 2.00 booking fee

I think this is too high, i know season tickets are fantastic value but we are not going to attract many fringe supporters with these prices i know other premiership clubs are more expensive but i feel for a mid week game aswell this is too expensive and i can see another poor crowd tonight.

The Pagey is advertising that the game is on in there tonight, and free half time food. I was in there one matchday recently and as we left for the game at ten to three, there were more people coming in than going out.

It’s a difficult one though as our tickets are actually very cheap. It’s about £20 to watch Rochdale at home and £25 to watch Oldham in League One. I think we are in a unique position and should consider really lowering the prices and more importantly market and advertise the cheap tickets. However, too much and season ticket holders would feel disillusioned.

We’ve just got to accept that we live in a town whereby if we let people in for free they’d still complain that they weren’t getting free food at half time like they would if they watching it in the pub

One of the big issues is that the club has to charge the same for everyone. I guess, therefore, that they have to decide if they will sell more away tickets at £28 than they would sell adiditonal home tickets at £28?

If they think they can sell 4800 away seats at £28, how many extra Wigan fans would they need to find, at say £15, to match it? Even with my shaky maths, you’re looking at 9-9500. It probbaly wouldn’t happen.

You only have to charge the same price for the same facilities/views etc..
That’s how the club can charge less for the end rows in each side stand as opposed to the ones in the middle. I remember years back reading a book about a season at Rochdale & there was a bit in there about the chairman rubbing his hands together coz the football league had given em the green light to charge Latics fans more than the home fans due to the roof that was on the away stand

The club could withdraw some of the things in the south stand (john smiths!!, TV’s on the concourses etc..) & argue the away fans get charged more coz they get better facilities!!!!

Anyhow back to the original posters point I’d agree that the junior prices especially make it difficult to attract floating fans
It also doesn’t help that for the big games you can’t buy a ticket if you aren’t on the database etc.. but that decision wasn’t really the club’s one to make

one idea i would like to see is that if a season ticket holder gets tickets they should be at a slightly reduced priced say cat c prices. At least season ticket holders would push the club and feel they are making a difference by getting fringe fans to come to a game.
Therfore there is traceabilty should it fall into away fans hands.

I think its every fans duty to help get the club more supporters and this could help.

How long before a reference to Martinez’s tactics driving fans away or Whelan lining his pockets appears on this thread?

Being an ex season ticket holder due to the fact i can’t make it to all the games, i must admit £28 is just too much. I’d be tempted at between £15 and £20 but that would still be a push for what i see as a trade off with what i could spend my kids.
I tend to go for the matches there is a deal cos my brother is a season ticket holder, and for some of the games this season this has paid off, buy an extra ticket for a tenner for example.

He gets a lift and a pint, i get a cheaper ticket. Should do more of them in my opinion because alot of the time it’s the season ticket holder that benefits aswell.

Must be hard to balance between season ticket holders and floating fans though because i’m sure season ticket holders from previous years have stopped getting one to pick and choose cheaper games.
