We see comments from him regarding other clubs and without doubt the bloke has let a lot of fans down with the way he went about Cattermoles exit. Lack of investment also is a worry, but what I would like to see from the bloke is a thankyou to Latics fans. In the paper to say how good the fans have been, may be even an apology regarding Cattermole. Hes always quick to jump on the pitch should we be successful, it would be nice to see him on the pitch applauding the fans at the end of the match.
The lack of investment is worrying, selling players is always hard but if you can see most of it being reinvested its not so hard.
A night at the DW, ”Challenge Dave Whelan” and he can respond to questions and concerns about the status regarding debt, possible investment and the future of the club..
But, none of that will happen will it.23 August 2009 at 10:12 pm #6264Behave. What is it, four years now and he’s yet to give a straight answer to the simple question, “What is Maurice Lindsay doing on our board?” What annoys me is that the local media are too in his pocket to ask any difficult or embarrassing questions.
24 August 2009 at 12:52 am #6280Like I said,Whelan is a grade one *****,…………..Allegedly his own sister cant stand him!
Me and my sister dont get on and she probably cant stand me.
But it doesnt make me a grade one tit…
24 August 2009 at 1:04 am #6285Yeah but come on. Who really calls it “soccer”, apart from the Yanks and the Aussies, and nobody takes either of those seriously, so they arent gonna take you seriously either – not that you seem to want to be taken seriously.
And i’m not too sure Lancaster would pull in many more fans than we do – especially when you consider that the population of Lancaster is actually half that of Wigan and to match our attendances they would need rougly 50% of the population to turn out.

Does that include the scruffy students?
24 August 2009 at 1:14 am #6288Not got a clue. Either way the students in Lancaster are normally too busy topping, or hanging, themselves to bother about football.

24 August 2009 at 11:49 am #6321Think his sister still has a stall on the market. I believe her attitude is “he’s welcome to all his money”.
Doesn’t mean they don’t get on though. Credit where it’s due, if somone offered me £400 and 30 years later I’d turned it into £250 MILLION, I’d be pleased enough.
The only frustration for me, is we sell players for millions and don’t re-invest in quality, proven, signings. Eventually, we will pay the price. Part of me is already partly wishing Roberto and co had NOT come back, simply because it will be a shame if he’s a failure, more so to having to do things on the cheap, than anything.

I thought you’d had enough of us peasants .
24 August 2009 at 3:55 pm #6347The only act Whelan needs to do is poach that Mick Hogan from Wigan Rugby and give him the job of marketing the club and getting our gates back on the rise
Trouble is it would cost him compared to the peanuts he pays Spencer but it would be the best signing he could ever make
