So yet again its half way through the season and even the most ardent Martinez supporters must admit it don’t look good.
We’ve been struggling like this many times in our greed league history, and managed to pull out of the mire, but this time without the likes of an Nzogbia to pull us through I wouldn’t put much on us staying up.
The league table doesn’t lie and with the likes of QPR willing to spend and other teams around us pulling off shock results it’s going to be another up hill battle, but this time I don’t see us being in the race going into the last game of the season.
So do we sell now and try and get inflated prices for the likes of Hugo, Diame and Moses and McCarthy…or do we wait till Summer and loose them for next to nowt?
Let’s face it we will need a “warchest” to do anything in the Championship.
What do you lot reckon?
So what you are asking is do we concede defeat now, and sell off the best players in preparation for the drop?
The parachute payments are the relegation ‘war chest’, and to be blatantly honest about it, why would we need that much money anyway? Our wage bill is probably the lowest in the league, and we struggle to attract the higher quality players to the club when we are playing in the Premier League, so we’ve no chance of getting them in the Championship.
We need to keep as many of our best players that we can. If, for instance, Rodallega wants to go however, and we can cash in and strengthen during the window, then I’m all for it, but to sell half the team at this stage of the season? No chance.

The club are saying today that they do not need to sell anybody.
I still think Martinez thinks we will get out of it but im in the pessimistic brigade and just cant see it.
Id sell Hugo and Diame now rather than let them go for nowt and if that goes towards a warchest to consolidate out position in the lower league next year then so be it.
That said if as they say we are well fixed then a comfortable season should be had in the 2nd division next season(i still call it that before any smart ass corrects me!) like Blackpool,West Ham and Birmingham are having at the moment!
lets be honest we have stagnated in this league and perenial relegation battles which 12 clubs in the EPl face each season doesnt float my boat anymore.
Whealan sold the family silver when he realised the cost of surviving in the Prem after 2006-2007 season.
He has clung on to his fortune since selling JJB and his reluctance to invest is the reason why we are in the state we are in.
Sell the club to somebody who will buy and invest rather than boasting ‘WE ARE ONE OF THE MOST FINACIALLY SECURE CLUBS IN THE PREMIERSHIP.’ But We’re Bottom.:angry: :dry: :S :pinch:
Sell the family silver? Who to? Rodallega hasn’t done himself or us any favours this season, so his value is falling by the day. Diame has health problems, which will downgrade his value. McCarthy seems to have hit a wall since his injury, so again his value is less than it could/should have been. Moses hasn’t really pushed on like we all hoped he would. All that means the likelihood is that any sales would be at below the value we’d want and can you imagine the howls if we sold Rodallega for a million?
Hey Old Wolf……I know it was only paper talk but rumours of a 4 million offer for Hugo……oh dear Whelan will be livid when Summer comes and we get fook all for the useless greedy twot. :ohmy:
The same goes for Moses, Diame and Mcarthy, and dare I say it Ali, come Summer, all will be going on strike trying to force a move to one of the promoted clubs for buttons.
Several Million for these players now would have steadied the ship and funded us a bit of a push for a decent season next season….not to be now.

We are a fish out of water in the premiership, and after 7 years we cant compete any more. Face it we will go down and we should do it with pride and our heads held high.
never mind super league starts sunday
a sport where players and club both play for the town and its fans so im going to watch them at the rugby stadium sunday
first time in 30 years better value for money than this lot
