yeah defo 3 mill, have we got any centre halfs at the club, :?
Probably Alcaraz and Gohouri in the middle, and then Caldwell coming in when he’s got his new hip. I think my great aunt is ahead of him on the waiting list though.
It’s alright selling Titus and if his wages are 50k per week Whelan I’m sure will go help him pack BUT!!!!!! have we anyone of real proven Premiership quality.
Sorry but IMO it’s a shocking decision 1 mill for a player of proven quality and still under contract. Hope Bob doesn’t live to regret it
If he want’s to go you can’t stop the lad and has another poster said it’s a transfer fee plus a huge amount of wages that can be channelled into other areas or players

Er….no.
Martinez wants to put the youngsters in, and ‘see how they do’, before going out and buying more players.
Spurs away, 3rd game in. Another 9-1, anybody? Maybe it’ll be 10? :o
Until this club get’s sold or at least some new investment, it will never be any different. Same old sell our best players, and replace them with obscure foreigners and untried youth. Jesus tonight.*
Unless things change, I give Martinez until October, when he will be made a scapegoat, Whelan sacks him, and replaces him with Darren Ferguson.
FFS! I’m not actually BLAMING Roberto, myself. But ultimately, operating on such strict constraints, he’ll be the fall guy for Whelan’s penny pinching. I wish the old coot really would go. Ok, he did the unbelievable, and got us up the leagues, but he’s just so reluctant to invest money in players. Yes, we spent 6 million on Boselli, but as usual, players will leave to recoup the money. We’ll never get a settled team, here. Does my swede in.
A team who Martinez can rely on to play with pride, passion, commitment and no little skill as opposed to last seasons spectacle of players turning up when they so pleased.
Not sure how you can come out with a statement like that after the cack we watched last year when most of the poor players were Bob’s signings.
Aside from N’zogbia the players who let us down were the so called established stars.
It was the injection of McCarthy alongside Diame at Christmas time and Moses fleeting appearances at the tail end of the season that pulled us out of the s***.
There was an attitude problem at this club a good six months before Martinez arrived and it’s taken some time for him to put his stamp on the squad.

No doubt about that, although i just can’t imagine Titus ever being the kind to cause any tension. He seems way too laid back to have an attitude & ego like some of them do.
Offer Scharner a fresh contract that will tempt him back to the club as he is a better centre half than Brambles the shambles ! Tell him 35,000 and he never mentions midfield again and he would jump at it ! He would have been good captain material as well had he stayed !

So then, we resurrect yet another players career and they jump ship at the first opportunity when a ‘big’ team comes a calling. Can’t help thinking that the grass might not be greener for him, just in the same way that Heskey’s wasn’t. Some players show the loyalty, keep the respect and earn the right etc for the big money move, others don’t.

Titus thanks? Not from me.
Titus has been with us for, what is it, three seasons? I can hardly call that being the first opportunity to ‘jump ship’.
He had a mediocre season compared to the one previous, under Steve Bruce. He suits his kind of football, and the style that Martinez has been bringing in doesn’t accommodate a slow, 40-yd cross-field passer such as Bramble.
I also wouldn’t call it a “big money move” and I definitely wouldn’t call Sunderland a “big team”. It’s simply a transfer that would seem to suit both parties. We’re in a transitional period and I’m hoping that we (because we definitely need to) get a replacement in ASAP that will suit the new playing style, i.e. looking comfortable on the ball and being able to string a few passes together that can start an attack.
