In all fairness the whole team played well. They played some good stuff throughout the game. The type of football I’m sure we would all be happy to see week after week.
Really no idea what convinced Jones to have a drink at the stage he did. WTF he was thinking God only knows.
And then to pick the ball up as well without knowing how it got to him. Another of the many ridiculous mistakes we continue to make.
Exactly! When the ball came to him he seemed a bit confused of his whereabouts. Common sense would have said “Hmmmm! I’ll just kick it to be on the safe side.”
He had his back to play taking a drink while the balls 25 yards away so when it came to him he’d not a clue who’d passed it back.
If unsure in any pass back situationFookin laces through it !!!
For me theres back luck situations and mistakes. Bad lucks is were you cant do much about but stupid school boy mistakes taking drink while theres an attack on ?? God forbid
The bellend,,,,,, theres no excuse for that. It simply put paid to all the good work the outfield 10 did tonight.
How much better did we look by not hoofing it up to the big lad ?. Food for thought for Cook.
Food for thought indeed! They could play the big man upfront. But still play actual pass & move football.
But we wont Cook will make sure of that. The moment Moore steps on the pitch aerial bombardment will follow.I still can’t get over Jones’s schoolboy unacceptable fcukup just minutes after we’d hit the bar, sickening for all.
You’re bang on! After last night sat in the stands, surely even cook will see that his hoof ball tactics are not working.
12 December 2019 at 2:54 pm #182867We seem to get sucked into playing hoofball. There was far more movement off the ball yesterday and players had options to pass to. That normally doesn’t happen and we end up just lumping it to Moore. The goal on Saturday showed what we can do when we knock it around and move.
Moore has to play for me with Windass, Lowe and Pilkington behind him when all fit.

There is no reason we can’t play like that with Moore on, the movement of Windass off him would cause havoc in most defences.
We also got some decent crosses into the box last night, unfortunately Massey was on the end of most, if it was Moore it could have been so different.
Excellent performance overall, and very encouraging.12 December 2019 at 4:04 pm #182871Was Moore injured, or just being rested for Saturday? I thought windass & lowe worked really last night. No offence to windass in particular as he really put a shift in. But I agree. We missed Moore’s presence in & around the box last night.
12 December 2019 at 5:23 pm #182874A better performance but the same old faults and more points dropped from a winning position.
The goal they scored highlighted all that is wrong at the moment and it will take a supreme optimist to convince me even after that last night that a corner has been turned.
Need to start getting some wins under the belt as soon as possible.12 December 2019 at 7:46 pm #182879A better performance but the same old faults and more points dropped from a winning position.

Need to start getting some wins under the belt as soon as possible.A corner would have been turned had jones decided not to have a drink. That aside, I was impressed with how we played football & not hoofball. Hopefully, cook has learned. However, when moore comes back into the team & cook decides to revert back to hoofball, then no, we haven’t turned a corner.
12 December 2019 at 8:21 pm #182881IF cook decides to revert to that. As I said elsewhere, there was far more movement last night and if that carries on we have no need to revert to hoofball
12 December 2019 at 9:53 pm #182892I think sometimes we get forced into hoofball when the opposition, like Brentford, employ a high pressing game. We often don’t have the players skilled enough to pass through this and so end up wildly lumping it forward. Unfortunately this is done in panic rather than cohesive “plan B”, and so we look terrible and ineffective.
We should have more than one tactic if our favoured passing game isn’t working.
13 December 2019 at 12:05 am #182900To be fair when we played tiki taki under Roberto and sometime afterwards my (our?) big complaint was that we got caught in possession or were too slow to get the ball upfield, and I remember distinctly saying that we need to know when to hoof it upfield.
Obviously my memory must be faulty, as no-one else here seems to be able to remember what they said in the past. -
