We’ve had a funny old journey haven’t we!! I remember in the pre-premierleague days, driving home from elland road listening to the radio. Fans claiming they should be beating teams like Wigan. Wigan don’t deserve to be where we are as were just a small pub team with a rich owner. To be honest things haven’t really changed; other fans perception of our beloved club tend to follow this very same trend. The amusing thing us the media experts who sit on these panels and sofas to present on radio and tv patronisingly apply the very same view. Stan Colleymore is a very good example; if any of you have listened to him. He wouldn’t give us the time of day. Tonight coming away from the ground all I was hearing was “Wigan should be relegated” “shit club shut ground shit fans”
My long winded point is..! I like it just the way it us. We go about our business, we are a small, personal establishment. We don’t ask anything of anyone, we have a great club with great fans. Tonight has reminded me of what a club can do when you have heart. When you have players who believe. More importantly a manager who cares about his club.
Roberto Martinez is a legend in my eyes. What he is building is mow starting to gel and come together. We will mo doubt come undone in the near future And get beat or play badly. When we do, can we remember tonight and Saturday against Chelsea. We can play good football.
For the rest of them. Well let them ridicule us; let them belittle us. It just makes us stronger.

22 December 2011 at 11:42 am #76240Like my facebook status says:
no crowds and no history 0 regular sellouts and a massive history 0
When will the media learn that crowds don’t equal points? There are 20 teams a season that deserve to be in the Premier League and the best 17 get to stay there. Until now despite 6 attempts they can’t find 17 better than little pathetic Wigan and it aggravates them to hell. It annoys me at the time I hear/read what they say but when I look back it makes me smile. My poxy little club with no fans, no history, no future, who have bought success despite spending several millions less than everyone else are pissing the World off on a regular basis. Fantastic.

22 December 2011 at 3:45 pm #76252Great post
It’s nights like last night that give you a warm glow and remind you that when we all stick together and support our team that amazing things can happen.
We all know it’s going to be a rough ride along the way, but that’s because we support Little Wigan. But to see the spontaneous support for the lads was wonderful despite all the barracking we get from outside.
High points:
- Ali! Ali! Ali! after the penalty save is still sending shivers down my spine
- The boos drowing out the Scousers as the racist traipsed off the pitch
- The roars drowing out the moaners – who were still moaning!
- The fact that we could have a good laugh despite getting more and more nervous as the game went on
It was just like the old days and our new year’s resolution must be to get behind Bob and the team to keep us in this horribly biased Premier League and prove them all wrong yet again.

Not just voices G – it’s whole orchestras these days.
22 December 2011 at 7:58 pm #76287Well said, all these pundits are assholes and there has been a long line of them that love to hate.Andy Jacobs and Adrian Durham talkshoite, I really love it when we pi$$ these 2 off.Jacobs said today “liverpool should be beating Wigan” OH REALLY they havent managed it at our place yet under RM. Durham is a Posh fan for christ sake, he should understand how difficult being a small club is.
Let them all continue to slag us off it just makes themselves sound petty and ridiculous. We earned our place in the ego league and as long as we keep upsetting the applecart the better. This club is unique this club is special this club is Wigan Athletic.

Your hearing must be suspect –
I suggest you listen to some of Sir Hubert Parry’s stuff it may clear your misleading thoughts.

I am familiar with the old public school favourite ‘Dear Lord And Father Of Mankind’, but that’s about it.You can’t beat a bit of Elgar for me.

you cant be saying that on here its a bit like treason – wasnt that elgar fellow a wolves fan – must admit he penned one or two decent tunes though he could have made himself famous if he’d used blake to write a few lines for him also.

It makes you wonder who the other great composers watched….
Beethoven – FC Koln
Tchaikovsky – Zenit St Peterburg
Mozart – Red Bull Salzburg
Gershwin – Man Utd (there’s always one in every group) -
